Vetting of new PS nominees to begin April 4
Members of Parliament will begin vetting President William Ruto’s nominees for Principal Secretary (PS) positions next week.
According to a notice by National Assembly Clerk Samwel Njoroge, the approval hearings, conducted by departmental committees, will commence on Friday, April 4, 2025, and run through Monday, April 7, 2025.
Among the first nominees to face MPs on April 4 at 10:00 AM is Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim, nominated as PS for the State Department for National Government Coordination, who will appear before the Committee on Administration and Internal Security.
Stephen Isaboke, nominated for the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, will appear before the Committee on Communication, Information, and Innovation.
At the same time, Abdulrazak Shaukat, the PS nominee for the State Department for Science, Research, and Innovation, will appear before the Education Committee.
Other key nominees set for vetting on the first day include Dr. Ouma Oluga, nominated for the State Department for Medical Services, Dr. Jane Imbunya for the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Michael Lesan for the State Department for Devolution, and CPA Caren Ageng’o Achieng for the State Department for Children Welfare Services.
The vetting process will continue on Monday, April 7, with Dr. Caroline Karugu, the PS nominee for the State Department for East African Community and Regional Affairs, set to appear before the Defence committee.
On the same day, Judith Pareno, nominated for the Justice, Human Rights, and Constitutional Affairs docket, will face the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.
The National Assembly has invited the public to submit written statements contesting the suitability of any nominee before Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
