Tollywood has lost another veteran actress this morning. Chittajallu Krishnaveni, who was born in Pangidigudem village in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, on December 24, 1924, has breathed her last today.

The 100-year-old veteran actress started her career as a stage artist before making her film debut with Sati Anasuya-Dhruva (1936). She later married Mirzapuram king Meka Rangaiah and went on to act in several films in Telugu, Tamil, and other languages. Some of her notable works include Mohini Rukmangada (1937), Kacha Devayani (1938), Malli Pelli (1939), and Gollabhama (1947).

She also ventured into film production and played a key role in introducing the legendary actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao and renowned music director Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao to the Telugu film industry with Mana Desam (1949). The success of the film led her to produce more movies, including Gollabhama and Bhakta Prahlada.

In recognition of her immense contributions to Telugu cinema, Krishnaveni was honoured with the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award in 2004. She also showcased her talent as a playback singer, making a lasting impact on the industry.

Her passing has left the film fraternity in deep sorrow. Several actors and film personalities have expressed their grief over this great loss. We at 123telugu extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.
