A leading member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Kwame Jantuah, has stressed the need for fairness and equity in access to healthcare delivery in Ghana.

Speaking on TV3's NewDay on Friday May 23, 2025, he questioned the disparities in medical access between ordinary Ghanaians and public officials.

“I don’t know what ailment the Vice President has but if you had that ailment, would you have the chance to go to London?

"Would you have the chance to go to America? Would you have the chance to go to Germany? Would you have the chance to have foreign medical help? We are all Ghanaians," he lamented.

Jantuah added that the incident should serve as a national wake-up call.

“I would appeal to the Vice President, use this as a trigger point to get our health system back on track because there are people who have the same ailment and do not have the opportunity to get the kind of care that she got," he added.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has returned to the country after receiving medical treatment abroad.

She was initially rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Centre on Friday, March 28, 2025, after falling ill and later travelled abroad for further care based on medical advice.
