Spain striker Álvaro Morata is uncertain about continuing with the national team after missing a penalty during their UEFA Nations League, UNL, final defeat to Portugal on Sunday.
Morata was the only Spanish player to miss his penalty during the shootout at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
The Nations League final had ended in a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes in Germany.
Mikel Oyarzabal, Martín Zubimendi, Nuno Mendes, and Cristiano Ronaldo all scored during the match.
However, in the penalty shootout, Portugal converted all five of their spot-kicks, while Spain converted only three, with Morata missing his attempt.
Speaking after Spain’s defeat, Morata hinted that he may not return to the national team when they face Bulgaria and Turkey in the World Cup qualifiers in September.
“Right now, I can only think about what happened today, but there is a possibility I won’t come back to the national team in September,” Morata was quoted as saying by TouchlineX after the game.
