UK airport warns holidays could be 'ruined' this summer - Leeds Live
A UK airport has warned that holidays could be "ruined" and flights could be cancelled, if travellers do not adhere to a specific rule. The One Too Many campaign has been rolled out across more than 20 airports across the UK, including London Stansted.
Airport bosses took to X, formerly Twitter, on Friday (June 27) to highlight the initiative, and to issue a stark warning to holidaymakers. The update reads: "Did you know that if you are deemed unfit to fly, you may be denied boarding and you could face up to two years in jail for disrupting a flight?"
A graphic accompanying the post explains that "One too many is all it takes to... ruin a holiday, cause a delay, cancel a flight, divert a plane, [and/or] land YOU in jail." The campaign, backed by the Government, is urging passengers to "fly responsibly" or face severe consequences.
Travellers causing trouble on flights risk being denied boarding, receiving a lifetime ban from the airline, or facing fines up to £80,000 if their actions necessitate a flight diversion. One Too Many's message is now visible at many leading UK airports, including London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester, Liverpool John Lennon, Newcastle International, and Bristol.
Karen Dee, the Chief Executive of the Airport Operators Association, said: "UK airports are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable travel experience for all passengers. We urge travellers to enjoy their journeys responsibly and not ruin their holidays or the holidays of others.
"Airports will continue to monitor and act against any disruptive behaviour to ensure everyone's safety." Launched in 2018 with government support, the One Too Many campaign has received endorsements from the Department for Transport and the Home Office.
