UFC 317 fighter gets cut from promotion after missing weight by 10 pounds
Christopher Ewert missed weight by a staggering 10 pounds ahead of UFC 317 on Saturday night. The massive miss resulted in his welterweight bout with fellow UFC debutant Jackson McVey being canceled.
During Friday's "UFC 3017 Weigh-In Show," the broadcast team announced Ewert missed by a significant margin and had been cut from the promotion before setting foot in the Octagon. Despite the fight getting scratched, McVey weighed in at 185 pounds to earn his show money.

Ewert looked to stay undefeated in his UFC debut, coming in with a 7-0 record before the cancellation. "El Tanke" knocked out five of his opponents and most recently fought twice in Fury FC before signing with the UFC.
McVey, now waiting for his first UFC fight, finished all six of his opponents as a pro with three knockouts and three submissions. All of his victories came in the first round, with five coming under a minute and 28 seconds. McVey had four of his six fights in LFA and two in Shamrock FC.
UFC 317 will culminate with International Fight Week from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The card features two title bouts, with Alexandre Pantoja looking for his fourth title defense against Kai Kara-France, and Charles Oliveira and Ilia Topuria fighting for the vacant lightweight title in the main event.
