U.S. AI Startups Secure Major Investments in Early 2025
The artificial intelligence (AI) sector experienced a landmark year recently, with significant funding activity continuing into 2025. By early this year, nearly ten U.S. AI startups have already raised over $100 million, with one exceeding $1 billion in funding.
In March, Anthropic, a company focused on AI research and large language models, raised $3.5 billion in a Series E round, bringing its valuation to $61.5 billion. This round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, Menlo Ventures, and General Catalyst.
February saw several significant funding rounds. Together AI, which develops open-source generative AI and AI model infrastructure, raised $305 million in a Series B round, valuing the company at $3.3 billion. This round was co-led by Prosperity7 and General Catalyst, with Nvidia, Lux Capital, and Salesforce Ventures also participating.
Lambda, an AI infrastructure company, raised $480 million in a Series D round, with a valuation nearing $2.5 billion. The round was co-led by SGW and Andra Capital, with Nvidia, G Squared, and ARK Invest also investing.
Pittsburgh-based Abridge, an AI platform for transcribing doctor-patient conversations, secured $250 million in a Series D round, valuing the company at $2.75 billion. The round was co-led by IVP and Elad Gil, with Lightspeed Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, and Spark Capital participating.
AI legal tech company Eudia raised $105 million in a Series A round led by General Catalyst, with Floodgate, Defy Ventures, and Everywhere Ventures among the investors.
EnCharge AI, an AI hardware startup, completed a $100 million Series B round led by Tiger Global, with participation from Scout Ventures, Samsung Ventures, and RTX Ventures.
AI legal tech startup Harvey raised $300 million in a Series D round led by Sequoia Capital, valuing the company at $3 billion. The round included investments from OpenAI Startup Fund, Kleiner Perkins, and Elad Gil.
In January, ElevenLabs, a synthetic voice startup, raised $180 million in a Series C round, with a valuation exceeding $3 billion. The round was co-led by ICONIQ Growth and Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Sequoia Capital and NEA.
Hippocratic AI, developing large language models for healthcare, announced a $141 million Series B round, led by Kleiner Perkins, with Andreessen Horowitz, Nvidia, and General Catalyst investing.
