Two adults and four children displaced after house fire in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two adults and four children were displaced from their home after a fire in Suffolk Wednesday evening, according to Suffolk Fire & Rescue.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 3500 block of Ludlow Cove at approximately 6:30 p.m. after multiple reports of an explosion, and house on fire.

Upon arrival around 6:35 p.m., crews found heavy fire showing from the front of a two-story house.

While firefighters were controlling the fire, the owner of the home arrived and assured that all the residents were accounted for and safely outside the house.

The fire was placed under control at approximately 8:20 p.m. Heavy damage occurred to the entire structure.

While there were no injuries to occupants, one firefighter was injured while searching the house and taken to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The residents did not require assistance from the Red Cross.

The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire. The report of an explosion is also under investigation.
