Liverpool agreed to let the right-back leave before the end of his contract on June 30 after Real Madrid paid €10 million to break him free from the contract.
The English international would have swapped Merseyside for Madrid for free, but his new club wanted him early to play in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
"I have never known anything else, and this decision is about experiencing a new challenge, taking myself out of my comfort zone and pushing myself both professionally and personally," he said in his farewell message to Liverpool fans on Instagram.
"I’ve given my all every single day I’ve been at this club, and I hope you feel like I’ve given back to you during my time here."
Alexander-Arnold will be barred from taking his KSh 22.8 million Range Rover to Spain due to the standing sponsorship deals Real Madrid has.
The record European champions have a deal wth BMW which prohibits their players from driving cars made by other companies.
However, as El Motor reports, BMW supplies high-end cars to Madrid players, which means Alexander-Arnold will have a new car in Spain - not just the beloved Range Rover he has in England.
The cars are later sold as pre-owned models after the players are done with them.
As Car and Driver reports, Alexander Arnold's Range Rover was equipped with a 4.4 V8 twin-turbo engine, delivering 530 horsepower and a maximum torque of 750 Nm.
Equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system, it can propel its more than 2.5 tonnes from 0 to 100km/h in 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 155mph.
The 26-year-old could make his debut for his new club on June 18 when they play Al-Hilal in the FIFA Club World Cup.
He is currently with the England squad, where they are set to play Andorra on Saturday, June 7, in the first game of the World Cup qualifiers.
Thomas Tuchel's side will then host Senegal at the City Ground in Nottingham on June 10 in an international friendly.

After Al-Hilal, Xabi Alonso's side will play Mexican team Pachuca on June 22 before wrapping up their group stage campaign against Salzburg.
Apart from the car, the two-time Premier League winner will have to ditch another thing he liked at Liverpool.
Alexander-Arnold made the number 66 jersey his own during his glorious spell at Anfield, but he will need to get a new number when he switches over to Real Madrid.
La Liga players aren't allowed to don such numbers and thus, he will wear a different jersey number for the first time in his club career.
