One thing that so many fans didn't know about NFL superstar Travis Kelce, is he opened up about during his first time hosting Saturday Night Live in March 2023, the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end had some difficulty with one aspect of the process.
He discussed it just recently on a podcast, and his candor has made some people take notice. It wasn't the fact that he was in front of lights and a stage that made him have nervous feelings, it was in fact something else. What was so difficult? When was it? And why did it mean so much to him? The whole story gets all of these questions answered.
Travis Kelce was on July 1st, 2025 the show Bussin' With The Boys and talked about his Saturday Night Live debut from March of 2023.
That episode aired just a few months after he lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, with Jason Kelce in the game.
Travis Kelce said scheduling SNL was unreal, but not easy. He admitted that reading out loud during the table read was the hardest part. “For a guy that can’t really read that well, it was kind of a messed-up situation,” he shared on the podcast. He added that instead of acting out the lines, he was focused on not skipping words.
"I was just focused on ‘don’t skip this line," he said. Travis Kelce called himself “more of an audio guy,” which made the reading part even harder.
Even with the challenges, Travis Kelce said he took the role seriously. He wanted to have fun, but also make the SNL team respect his effort. “I wanna make them respect how serious I'm taking it," He said.
Travis Kelce said it was the longest and tiring week of preparation of his life, and he was up until 2 or 3 am shooting skits with the cast, and they were all working together to get things ready.Looking back, Travis Kelce thought the experience was so “so cool” and something he’ll never forget. He also said it made him more interested in acting. “I’m definitely interested,” he added, “but that’s a whole new craft I need to learn.”
