By Jaikrishnan PKOTTAYAM: One woman was killed and two were injured after a part of a building in the govt medical college hospital collapsed here on Thursday. The woman got stuck in the debris of the collapsed building.
It was the rescue team that found the dead body of the woman amongst the debris. The husband of the deceased complained that his wife was missing after the building collapsed. According to him, the woman went to take a bath in the washroom in the collapsed part of the building. The couple were in the hospital for the treatment of their daughter, who was under treatment in the trauma care unit.The mishap occurred on the same day when the CM was holding a review meeting in the district. Meanwhile, the opposition staged a protest at the accident site, led by Chandy Oommen MLA, for the delay in the rescue act, which claimed one life.The building, which was part of ward 11 of the MCH, collapsed around 11 am. Initially, the ministers V N Vasavan and Veena George told reporters that the portion that collapsed was not in use as it had become old.
