Toying With AI

Published 1 week ago4 minute read

I’m doing a deep dive into artificial intelligence. I am rewriting Warhammer stories in the style of Paradise Lost by John Milton. I’m not sure which is the better writer - ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude AI, or DeepSeek. I send the AI generated story to OpenVoice2 which transcribes the story into an audiobook. Why !?!? Who knows ? I’m not sure exactly what I’m doing. I’m toying with AI story writing, to AI image generation, to AI video generation, to AI music generation, and the like. It's all very confused and pointless. On the bright side - the more hours toying with AI the more familiar I am with it, which is good. I feel as I am following a hunch or a gut feeling that lingers in the air. Chances are that I will find something significant but maybe not.

There is one thing that bothers me about AI right now.

The AI industry is attempting to profiteer from the hype right now. Sure - there are many services available free. Yet the subscription services are just too much money. This profiteering tendency, which can be seen as penny pinching, prevails in the popular culture. This tendency is in health care, television services, video games, and streaming services. The best example of them all is Netflix. Netflix has about 300 million subscribers who pay on average $15 a month. The reasonable and practical cost of the subscription should be $5 or less. Yet Netflix is so dam greedy they charge a price that actually hurts them in the end.

In other words lets consider the average price of AI video generation services.

If someone wanted to create an AI movie in Gemini Veo 3 it would cost them thousands of dollars. Plus there is a twist with the AI services. I believe the following is true but I wouldn’t be able to prove it. The AI services receive a subscribers prompt to make media Often the media produced is erroneous, flawed, and incorrect. I believe that the service is prone to produce the wrong results so subscribers would use up all of their credits.

So there is a solution here.

There are open source services that produced AI media (check out Pinokio AI). The problem here is that the AI media apps require lots of GUI or video card processing power. So to produce AI movies and music the device in question should have at least 16 GUI video ram. A 16 GB video card cost a grand. It needs to be noted that a computer with 16GB ram or 32 GB ram, or 64 GB ram would be great for AI media processing but not necessary with anything else. It would be a one trick pony PC. Likewise - rich people don’t have to worry about the cost of hardware or services. Yet, I’m not rich. Likewise, it needs to be noted that producing an AI movie with the cost of AI services as they stand now would cost thousands of dollars. Question is, how much should producing a movie cost in the first place ??

In any case I have homework for you.

Pick a favorite fiction universe (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles, and the like) and write a chapter in the style of Paradise Lost by John Milton. See which is the better fiction writer ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude AI, or DeepSeek. Naturally, the more written and the more popular the fiction universe the more the AI will have to reference.

Here is an example .

Prompt:
Write me a short story dealing with how Marvel’s Ghost Rider fought for his soul against the demon Mephisto. Make the story coincide with Marvel lore. Make the story compelling, emotional, and intriguing. Also write the story in the style of Paradise Lost by John Milton.
