Actress Toyin Abraham was moved to tears on Sunday after her colleague Mercy Aigbe surprised her with a bouquet of flowers ahead of the premiere of her new film, Iyalode.

In a video shared online, Toyin was seen making preparations at the venue when Mercy arrived unexpectedly and presented her with the bouquet.

“Congratulations, you work so hard. I love you,” Mercy said as she embraced her friend.

The emotional moment left Toyin speechless. Overcome with gratitude, she broke down in tears and the pair shared a hug and kiss, surrounded by onlookers.

Toyin Abraham’s latest film, Iyalode, is set to premiere in Nigerian cinemas on June 6, with an exclusive advanced screening on June 5.

The Yoruba-language epic marks a significant shift from Abraham’s usual comedic roles, as she plays a powerful female lead navigating themes of tradition, power and resistance.

Directed by Adebayo Tijani and produced by Kolawole Ajeyemi, Iyalode stars Kehinde Bankole, Wale Ojo and Muyiwa Ademola.

The premiere is scheduled to take place at Filmhouse IMAX in Lekki, Lagos.
