Executive & Chief Human Resources Officer, UC San Diego Health

Tonya Jackman Hampton is an Executive and Chief Human Resources Officer for UC San Diego. She is a dynamic, visionary, and strategic leader, as well as an award-winning executive. In 2024, Hampton was recognized as a Top Chief People Officer by Becker Hospital. In 2023, she was recognized by the Minneapolis St. Paul Journal as a Women in Business Career Achievement Honoree and a Top Black Professional. 

Hampton has a proven track record with nearly 30 years of experience effectively leading and cultivating organizations or cultures to be inclusive and engaging. She has led Fortune 500 companies and nonprofit organizations. She brings enthusiasm to every endeavor inside and outside of the organizations she's been a part of. She consistently engages to help organizations, leaders, and students understand and execute key human resources and talent management required to drive effective business performance. As a healthcare HR executive, she has led the transformation of the human resource function and practices across the enterprises to a strategic level, ensuring the function and team members within the entire organization are seen as critical to providing healthcare to the community. 

Hampton is a recently published author of the book The Myth of Fearless Leadership: Exposing a New Path Beyond Fight, Flight and Freeze.


Head of Sales, Google

Dawn Markovics is the Head of Sales at Google. She started at Google in April 2020 as an enterprise account executive and was promoted to this senior role in June 2021.

Markovics is a highly motivated and enthusiastic people-person with a passion for helping customers. Born with an entrepreneurial spirit, she enjoys challenging the status quo and is driven to find solutions, rarely taking no for an answer. She thrives under pressure, is energized by problem-solving, and is committed to lifelong learning and avoiding complacency.

Before joining Google, Markovics was a senior account manager at Dell EMC. Before that, she was a client executive at World Wide Technology. Earlier in her career, she worked with Conagra Brands as an auditor. Markovics graduated from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business with an MBA and from Clemson University with an undergraduate degree in accounting.

Reema Poddar is recognized as a bold technology and transformative business leader, strategist, and innovative executioner. Having previously held positions as president and CEO at Phillips, chief product and technology officer at Teradata, and EVP of global software and solutions at GE. Head of Global FP&A, Diabetes OU, Medtronic

Michelle Lin is the Head of Global FP&A for Diabetes OU at Medtronic. Medtronic plc, headquartered in Galway, Ireland, is the leading global healthcare technology company that boldly attacks the most challenging health problems facing humanity by searching out and finding solutions.

Before joining Medtronic, Lin served as head of finance for a biopharma organization. Before that, she held the role of executive director of finance at Novartis and served as associate vice president at JPMorgan Chase. Earlier in her career, she worked with IMS Health (formerly Fourth Hurdle Consulting) as a health economics analyst.

Lin graduated from London Business School with an MBA in Finance and Strategy and from Imperial College London with an MS in International Health Management. She received her undergraduate degree from Peking University.


Chief Legal Officer, Gusto

Dina Segal is the Chief Legal Officer at Gusto. Launched in 2011 as ZenPayroll, Gusto serves more than 400,000 businesses nationwide. Each year, they process tens of billions of dollars of payroll and provide employee benefits like health insurance and 401(k) accounts while helping companies create incredible workplaces. 

Segal leads Gusto’s legal, compliance, and government affairs teams in their mission to help customers and bring Gusto’s vision to life. She joined the company in 2022 from Intuit, where she worked on products for small businesses and supported mergers and acquisitions. Before that, she served as deputy general counsel at a venture-backed fintech and worked at leading law firms, representing clients in areas such as product compliance, litigation, taxation, corporate governance, and strategic transactions. She has been recognized by the San Diego Business Journal as a Woman of Influence, Top 100 Leader, Business Woman of the Year, and Top 40 Under 40.

Segal is on the board of directors of SunLaw.org. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from UC San Diego and a JD from the University of Washington.


CEO of Integrated Delivery, Southern California, Envision Healthcare 

Sharon Henry is the CEO of Integrated Delivery in Southern California for Envision Healthcare, a leading medical group that delivers physician and advanced practice provider services. 

With decades of experience in medical service delivery, M&A, and start-ups, Henry is responsible for the integrated delivery of EmCare, American Medical Response (AMR), and Evolution Health in Southern California. She is widely known for her innovative and results-oriented approaches to medical delivery, including mobile integrated health, which has proven to provide reduced cost, better care, and an enhanced patient experience. 

Henry served on the board of the Wireless Life Sciences Alliance and has implemented and tested wireless monitoring devices in several population health settings to help drive improved patient experience and reduced cost.


Head of Business Operations, Genentech

Rita Andrada brings over 25 years of expertise in Operations and Supply Chain leadership, with a versatile background spanning Biotech, Computer Networking hardware, Semiconductors, and Sports Equipment industries. As Head of Business Operations, she successfully led key functions such as strategy, project management, risk management, and training, along with a dotted line IT structure.  This broad scope enabled her to gain a comprehensive, end-to-end perspective, sharpening her ability to prioritize impactful business initiatives.

A dedicated leader, Rita is passionate about building and inspiring high-performing teams, recognizing each individual's potential, and coaching them to exceed their own expectations. She was recognized with multiple awards, including the Servant Leader award, and finalist for Excellence in Leadership and Emerging Leader. She is also a sponsor of many employee resource groups and has enjoyed mentoring many employees along the way. Her career journey began in Silicon Valley at Cisco Systems, where she held supply chain roles, including Planning integration lead during five acquisitions. President & CEO, The Miralle Agency, Farmers Insurance Group of Companies

Lauren Miralle is the President and CEO of The Miralle Agency of Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Miralle first joined the team in 2007. She is licensed in both property and casualty as well as life, health, and disability insurance. Over the years, she has become an expert in commercial insurance, with a particular focus on insuring condominiums and planned unit development associations.

Miralle has over 15 years of industry experience and is a Championship and Topper Club Award recipient within the Farmers Insurance Group organization. She has access to nearly all admitted and excess lines carriers and brings extensive expertise in general liability, professional liability, business owner’s policies (BOPs), commercial auto, workers' compensation, group and individual health, life, homeowners, auto, and umbrella insurance.

Previously, Miralle was a commercial insurance specialist at Inskeep & Associates. She earned an undergraduate degree in international studies from the University of Arizona.


Chief Executive Officer, SmartLab

Dr. Jennifer Berry is an accomplished executive with nearly three decades of leadership experience spanning strategic planning, human resources, talent and capacity development, business growth, financial stewardship, and organizational operations. Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of SmartLab, Dr. Berry is at the forefront of transforming K-12 education by aligning today’s classrooms with the demands of tomorrow’s workforce.

With a career deeply rooted in education, Dr. Berry has held senior leadership roles for over 20 years at nationally recognized organizations, including Presence, After-School All-Stars, Quantum Learning, and Kaplan. Her work reflects a steadfast commitment to student achievement and to building innovative, career-focused STEM education pathways that empower the next generation of learners.

Head of Innovation, WTW

Karen O’Leonard currently serves as WTW's Head of Innovation, leading global initiatives to support the company’s growth strategy. Her team fuels the organization’s innovation pipeline by incubating early-stage concepts through to development and commercialization while fostering a culture of experimentation. As part of this role, O’Leonard leads a cross-functional board to invest in new concepts, a committee she started in 2019.

O’Leonard has been bringing new solutions to market for more than two decades. Through her deep experience in product management, data, and analytics, she has successfully launched new software products and data-driven services to customers across the globe. Her first product launch was SIMON, a software program she developed while in graduate school to enable companies to run their demand forecasting scenarios using conjoint data. Following this, she spent over a decade in Silicon Valley, working in product development roles at Apple and JavaSoft, where she helped launch new hardware and software solutions. She later joined two founders in starting a company that grew into a multi-million dollar business before it was acquired by Deloitte. After the acquisition, she served as Deloitte’s vice president of talent analytics, where she led a team in building an analytics platform and advisory service designed to help HR leaders harness their data for better decision-making.

O’Leonard is a passionate supporter of women’s causes. She actively supports female entrepreneurship at WTW and is a board member of Women's Empowerment International, a nonprofit providing training and microloans to help lift women out of poverty. O'Leonard graduated from Drexel University with an MBA in Quantitative Methods and from Bucknell University with an undergraduate degree.


CEO & Visionary, Excellens Solutions

Lamar Rutherford is the CEO and Visionary for Excellens Solutions. Excellens Solutions helps business owners sell or transition out of their businesses. She has been an M&A advisor/business broker over the last 12 years, advising 100’s of business sales, often involving high levels of complexity and in a wide range of industries. She prides herself on getting the best value for her clients and finding the right buyer so the business continues successfully. 

Rutherford has started, managed, and sold several of her businesses; been a business leader for large corporations, including Nestle, Disney, Arthur Andersen & Co., and Belmond, a 5-star luxury hotel collection; and taught entrepreneurship for eight years at UCSD's Rady School of Management.

Rutherford holds a Dartmouth MBA, is a former CPA, and has completed the CEPA (Certified Exit Planning Advisor) training. She is also a published author, having recently published the fiction novel CodeY. She also co-founded Epiphany!, an event fostering community and growth among professionals that raises funds for sex-trafficked victims. 


Co-President, Women In Computing at UCSD

Lina Battikha is the Co-President of Women In Computing at UCSD. She was promoted to this role in June 2024. Women In Computing (WIC) at UCSD is made up of coders and engineers of all genders who support the female presence in computing. They run events, from tech talks to socials, and provide opportunities for female engineers to connect and succeed.

Previously, Battikha served as a TechGirls US ambassador at Legacy International. She currently serves as an EDGE mentor at USCD, where she mentors high school students. She is also a program developer for Code With Her, which aims to empower younger girls by exposing them to different fields in technology. 

Battikha earned a Bachelor of Science in Data Science with minors in Cognitive Science and Healthcare Social Issues from UC San Diego. 


Head of Global Strategy & Creative, Amazon

Olivia Heeren is the Head of Global Strategy and Creative at Amazon. She first joined the team in 2017 as a senior program manager. She now leads a high-performing team of 26 to accelerate the representation and inclusion of small and underserved businesses in Amazon’s store. 

Heeren has over 20 years of experience in project management, integrated marketing, and advertising, working with a variety of clients and organizations across different industries and platforms. Her core competencies include orchestrating marketing strategy and customer journeys, leveraging automation to drive efficiencies in curation, and leading multi-touch, first-to-market programs that span multiple organizations within Amazon. She also provides comprehensive advertiser program impact reporting, along with recommended future optimizations.

Previously, Heeren served as senior vice president and group director at McCann Erickson, and before that, she was a senior vice president at BBDO. Earlier in her career, she worked with Lawrence, Mayo & Ponder as an account executive. She earned an undergraduate degree in sociology from UC San Diego.


Associate Chief Diversity Officer for Outreach & Success, San Diego State University

Dr. Mary Taylor currently serves as the Associate Chief Diversity Officer for Outreach and Success at San Diego State University. In her role as Associate Chief Diversity Officer, she serves on the Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Leadership Team and oversees a portfolio of campus units and programs focused on student service and success as well as institutional equity and belonging.

Prior to this role, Mary served as the Executive Director of the Center for Educational Partnerships Outreach and Success and has over 20 years of student services experience. She is passionate about student access, equity, and success and is an advocate for asset-based research and practice approaches.

In the non-profit sector, Mary serves on a number of boards for organizations working to close gaps in access and equity for our local students. She has also served as the Director of Reality Changers’ College Apps Academy Program and as the Interim Executive Director of the Elementary Institute of Science. In 2014, she was the recipient of the San Diego Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business Award for her work in creating and developing the College Apps Academy Program at Reality Changers and was a Janet Chrispeels Doctoral Fellow in Educational Leadership at UCSD in recognition of her work increasing access for underserved students and families.

As a scholar, Mary has a research agenda focused on educational equity and access for marginalized and underserved students, Black student success in higher education, college access, success, and completion, and non-profit collaboration with educational institutions. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UCSD, her Master’s degree in Student Affairs from SDSU, a certificate in College Admissions Advising from UCLA, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the UCSD/CSUSM Joint Doctoral Program (research topic: Black Student Success in Higher Education: An Asset-Based Examination of Individual and Institutional Factors).


Head of School, Academy of Our Lady of Peace

Dr. Lauren Lek leads with purpose and vision—empowering young women across San Diego to achieve boundless possibilities. Since 2012, she has served as Head of School at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace (OLP), guiding the all-girls’ institution through over a decade of transformational growth and impact. Under her leadership, OLP has emerged as a national leader in STEM learning, launching advanced curricular programs, on-campus internships, and the TrustThink STEM Scholars Certificate, which honors students on their transcript for academic achievement, leadership, and hands-on engagement in STEM fields.

A lifelong educator, Dr. Lek holds a doctorate in Educational Technology Leadership from Pepperdine University and a master’s in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of California. Her career began at her alma mater, Moreau Catholic High School, where she became its first alumna principal. She is a proud graduate of UC San Diego, where she was named Miss San Diego and earned scholarships to complete her degree.

Under Dr. Lek’s leadership, OLP launched its $24 million Boundless Campaign—catalyzing a historic transformation of its campus. This included the opening of the 23,000-square-foot St. Therese Library and Performing Arts Center, along with the state-of-the-art Shiley Center for Science and Innovation, which features six designated science labs and a dynamic makerspace for design, engineering, and invention. Dr. Lek also founded the school’s annual Women’s Symposium and expanded global and inclusive programming, including the Global Scholars Program, which allows students to earn academic credit through immersive, service-based travel aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the Sisters and Scholars initiative for students with learning differences.

She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools and is a longtime member of San Diego Rotary Club 33. Among her many accolades are the Athena Pinnacle Award in Education, CEO of the Year, and San Diego Metro’s Woman of Inspiration. A mother of three, Dr. Lek is passionate about helping young women rise—equipped with the skills, confidence, and compassion to shape a better future. Adriana Tortajada is CEO and Managing Partner at Twelve Hundred VC (1200vc), an early-stage investment platform investing in fund managers and founders shaping the future of humanity.

At 1200vc, Tortajada leads the management and long-term direction of the firm while managing relationships with LP investors, funds, government, and companies for collective value creation and the firm's overall development.

Over the past decade, Tortajada has pioneered the design and launch of public and private programs promoting the entrepreneurial and venture capital ecosystem across the US and Latin American regions to trigger cross-border opportunities. She is recognized as a leading woman in the private markets across Latin America. She is a Kauffman Fellow Class 16. 


Executive Vice President, JLL

Nicole Winters is an Executive Vice President of JLL, specializing in tenant representation for both office and industrial clients in the San Diego market. For over 200 years, JLL, a leading global commercial real estate and investment management company, has helped clients buy, build, occupy, manage, and invest in a variety of commercial, industrial, hotel, residential, and retail properties.

Winters is responsible for managing corporate real estate portfolios by monitoring critical dates, rental increases, and operating expenses. She handles the delivery of financial analysis, lease reviews, and project management services to the client. She also represents clients through strategic planning, site location, and space location services.

Before joining JLL, Winters worked at Cushman and Wakefield, where she began her career in real estate. She has extensive experience in client service, which she developed as a senior executive wine consultant to more than 300 clients across the United States.


President & Chief Executive Officer, National Marine Mammal Foundation

Cynthia Smith serves as the President and CEO of the National Marine Mammal Foundation (NMMF), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in San Diego, California. Smith has led the organization since 2010 and served as chief medical officer for more than a decade. She continues to provide her veterinary expertise for high-priority marine mammal projects, specifically those focused on at-risk, threatened, and critically endangered cetaceans (dolphins, porpoises, and whales). She has more than 25 years of veterinary and research experience, resulting in over 80 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts.

Smith's nonprofit team provides veterinary, research, and animal care support to the US Navy’s Marine Mammal Program right here in San Diego. She contributed as a lead veterinarian for NOAA’s Natural Resource Damage Assessment of the Deepwater Horizon (DWH) oil spill, and she continues to study the long-term impacts of oil exposure on dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico. Smith served as the General Program Manager for the Consortium of Vaquita Conservation, Recovery, and Protection (VaquitaCPR), an international effort aimed at rescuing the endangered vaquita porpoise from extinction. She co-founded JANE: Justice & Action Network for the Earth, which was selected as a top 100 finalist for the MacArthur Foundation’s 100 & Change Competition and is part of the Bold Solutions Network. Most recently, Smith helped launch the NMMF’s Operation GRACE: Global Rescue of At-Risk Cetaceans and Ecosystems, with conservation projects in North America, South America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Smith received a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University. She completed executive education at Harvard Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, and Berkeley Haas School of Business. In 2019, she was named a Red Bull Hero of the Year for her work in conservation. In 2022, she was named a Woman of the Year finalist by San Diego Magazine and a Nonprofit Citizenship Award finalist by the San Diego Business Journal. In 2023, she was elected to the Tufts University Board of Trustees. Smith enjoys giving back locally and globally through national and international expert advisory groups. She currently lives in San Diego with her husband. They have two children and a rescued hound dog. 


Founder & President, Specialists in Global Health

Sara Browne is the Founder and President of Specialists in Global Health. She also serves as an associate professor of medicine at UC San Diego, where her focus has been on global health, with a more recent emphasis on mobile health.

Browne has partnered with three institutions in South Africa to support the development of skilled, medically trained research faculty. Her efforts aim to strengthen local capacity to address clinical research questions crucial to the combat and treatment of the HIV and TB epidemics in Southern Africa. She has successfully mentored South African medical faculty in the design and development of three NIH-funded international HIV research projects, focusing on antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence, metabolic side effects of ART, and transmitted HIV resistance. Research from these partnerships continues to generate vital clinical data and practical tools for implementation in the field. Browne currently conducts translational research and clinical trials to analyze and support patient medication adherence and promote medication literacy in the treatment of HIV/AIDS, TB, and chronic diseases. In collaboration with Proteus Digital Health, she is investigating the efficacy of mHealth sensor technology to monitor the treatment of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and she is an Alliance Healthcare Foundation Innovation Award recipient for this work.

Browne received her undergraduate education at the University of Cape Town, RSA, and her medical degree from the Oxford University School of Medicine. She has a Master of Public Health from the Harvard University School of Public Health, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. She completed her license in the United Kingdom at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK. She did her residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center, where she subsequently completed a Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship at Stanford University and an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at UCSD.

Chief Human Resources Officer, Help at Home

Michelle Bonfilio is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Help at Home, the leading national provider of in-home, person-centered care for seniors. Bonfilio brings an impressive set of experiences in human resources leadership and growth to this role. Ann Cathcart Chaplin is the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Qualcomm Incorporated. In this role, Chaplin serves as a member of the executive leadership team with global responsibility for all Legal operations and functions. Carol Henry is the Senior Director of Slalom Consulting, a purpose-led, global business and technology consulting company. Program Therapist, Casa de Amparo

Lisa Marie Knight is a Program Therapist at Casa de Amparo, a nonprofit that provides support to youth affected by and at risk of child abuse and neglect. Knight is focused on the Gen Z population with trauma-focused mental health concerns, with a mission to support children affected by and at risk of child abuse and neglect with clinical programs that support and promote healing, growth, and healthy relationships.

Knight has spent the last over 20 years managing and redefining processes and procedures, working with a multitude of different types and levels of professionals. She bridges the space between the execution of strategy and business operations by aligning and overseeing the managed research and creative campaigns and by maintaining a foundation for scale and growth. In addition to her passion for mentoring and developing strong leaders, she emphasizes high-quality collaboration company-wide. Previously, Knight was the chief operating officer for Engage Youth Co., and she continues to serve as an advisory board member. Executive Director, UC San Diego Health

Silvia Marquez serves as the Executive Director of the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office at the University of California, San Diego, which is recognized as one of the top 15 research universities worldwide.

Marquez has over 20 years of student service experience in higher education, including director roles in both financial aid and admissions. Before joining UC San Diego, she served as the associate director of the financial aid and scholarships office at UC Berkeley and as the implementation manager for the Hispanic-Serving Institution Initiative for the campus. Marquez also served as the interim assistant vice chancellor and director of undergraduate admissions at UC Berkeley. She was also the director of financial aid at California College of the Arts, a small liberal arts college in San Francisco.

Denise Perry is the Senior Director for Medical Genomics Lab Services at Illumina Lab Services. She is a board-certified genetic counselor with a passion for empowering patients with answers about the genetic causes of their medical conditions. At Illumina Laboratory Services, an accredited clinical laboratory within the world’s leading genomics company, she manages a team of genetic counselors, scientists, and laboratory directors dedicated to advancing the clinical applications of genomics. She and her colleagues at Illumina Laboratory Services play a crucial role in bridging groundbreaking genomic technologies with real-world patient care, helping to accelerate the adoption of clinical genomics globally. 

Perry began her career in Boston as a genetic counselor and project manager in clinical research aimed at understanding the delivery, impact, and outcomes of communicating genetic information to individuals and their physicians. During this time, she founded and co-chaired the NIH Clinical Sequencing Exploratory Research Program’s Genetic Counselors Working Group, uniting clinical experts from across the US to address challenges related to the integration of clinical genomics into the practice of medicine across genetic disease and cancer. Perry joined Illumina, eager to dive deeper into the technical aspects of genomics, and she and her team have spearheaded efforts to deliver clinical whole genome sequencing interpretation and medical results for over 5,000 patients worldwide, supporting various Illumina-sponsored projects and programs. Under her leadership, her team has been actively involved in the broader clinical genetics community, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and shaping industry best practices.

As vice president of brand and customer engagement, she led the brand, creative, community, editorial, channel marketing, and events and field marketing teams. She was honored with the 2019 Marketers that Matter Award in both the Building B2B Brands and Global Community categories. Founder & Executive Director, Literacy First Charter Schools

Debbie Beyer is the Founder and Executive Director of Literacy First Charter Schools (LFCS), now serving almost 2200 students and families across five separate school sites for K-12 grades. Her leadership at LFCS has resulted in outstanding test scores and significant community engagement. Under Beyer’s leadership, LFCS has undertaken charitable projects such as building a school, a water project, and a fish hatchery in Ecuador's central region. The school has also raised funds to support other charter schools facing natural disasters, most recently aiding victims of the Maui fire.

Beyer has experience in both public and private school classrooms, developing effective bilingual programs and curricula. She has worked as a teacher in elementary and high schools in New Mexico and the San Diego area. Beyer developed a homeschooling program in the 80s called Doing Education Better (DEBS) and has consulted on the development of several charter schools. She is the founder of Literacy First Charter School, which has been serving families in East San Diego County for over 23 years. Additionally, Beyer has served on several nonprofit boards.

Beyer has served as the director for San Diego and Imperial Counties for Concerned Women for America, as well as serving on its national board of directors. She was a founding member of College Area Pregnancy Services, addressing the needs of women in crisis pregnancies. Beyer has also contributed internationally, conducting teacher training and program development in Mexico, Central America, and Ecuador, focusing on empowering local communities. Emily Schell is the Executive Director of the California Global Education Project, one of nine discipline-specific networks that comprise the California Subject Matter Project. She leads the statewide office at the University of San Diego in the Jacobs Institute for Innovation in Education at the School of Leadership and Educational Sciences. 

Schell is a former elementary and secondary teacher and principal, as well as a district social studies resource teacher at San Diego Unified. Before her current role, Simeone served as the director of the Pancreatic Cancer Center and was the associate director of translational research at Perlmutter Cancer Center at New York University Langone Health. She is an internationally renowned pancreatic surgeon and researcher with a long-standing career focused on treating pancreatic cancer. Throughout her career, Simeone has driven innovation in cancer care by building a continuum between scientific discovery and new cancer detection and treatment approaches. She has published more than 230 studies in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Cell, Cancer Cell, Nature Medicine, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Simeone served as the chair of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's scientific and medical advisory board and is a past president of the American Pancreatic Association and Society of University Surgeons. She is an elected National Academy of Medicine member and has served on the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Pancreatic Cancer Task Force. Simeone is a member of the NCI Cancer Centers Study Section, which reviews comprehensive cancer centers across the United States. She also serves on the board of directors for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.

Simeone developed and currently serves as the chair of the Executive Committee of IMPACT PANC and is the founder of the Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection (PRECEDE) Consortium, an international consortium established to drive the early detection of pancreatic cancer. She completed her residency at the University of Michigan and earned her medical degree at Duke University. She is thrilled to lead Moores Cancer into its next era of innovation and discovery to drive new therapies and early detection approaches for patients.

Selbo thrives as an individual contributor and left her previous leadership role to pursue an enterprise sales role with Oracle's most strategic customers, helping other marketing leaders evangelize the way they go to market. In her spare time, Selbo is an investor and advisor in several consumer product goods and SaaS-based companies. How do you help a legendary biotech firm (that literally invented the next generation of DNA sequencing) and its legions of science PhDs (whose day jobs are to create the future with the next, next generation DNA sequencing) pivot from being product-centric to customer-centric? This initiative, started in early 2024, is still underway and is tapping into all of Rachel’s core areas of expertise: business transformation, marketing and commercial excellence, and leadership. Business transformation: With over 15,000 hours in capability development and change management across marketing, sales, and R&D, Rachel is a leader who changes cultures by meeting people where they are, showing them what’s possible, and inspiring them to take each step and embrace each obstacle to achieve their goals. At Illumina, this has meant embedding Illumina’s new customer segmentation, customer journeys, and personas into decision-making at every level of planning and execution, from the corporate strategy through build/buy/partner decisions, from portfolio management to Illumina’s go-to-market approach. Gabriella Rangrej is the Director of New Student Programs at the University of San Diego, a Catholic institution committed to advancing academic excellence grounded in the liberal arts, creating an inclusive community, and preparing leaders dedicated to ethical conduct and compassionate service. She co-directs the Learning Communities program, the University of San Diego’s signature first-year experience program, and is responsible for ensuring all new undergraduate students are successfully welcomed and supported in their transition to the institution.

Rangrej is an experienced professional with progressive expertise in higher education and exudes a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. During her tenure at the University of San Diego, she has been responsible for leading the successful onboarding of over 13,000 undergraduate students. She brings extensive experience in policy development, strategic planning and implementation, and organizational leadership. Morgan Reno is a Director at Cushman & Wakefield. As the daughter of the largest locally-owned general contractor in San Diego, Reno was fortunate to grow up on her father’s job sites, including DiamondView Tower and Kilroy Center Del Mar, which is where her affinity for office and biotech projects began. Beginning her career in brokerage with Cushman & Wakefield in 2016, Reno has risen to the top as one of only a handful of female office brokers in San Diego County.

49. Adriana Bade
Director Partner Marketing, Microsoft

Adriana Bade is the Director of Partner Marketing at Microsoft. She’s been with Microsoft for over four years, starting as a co-sell programs lead in Global Partner Solutions and advancing to partner marketing manager, where she managed a portfolio of Microsoft's Dynamics SI partners. She earned her current title in June 2024.

Bade is a passionate marketer with 25 years of experience in product management, field marketing, partner strategy, sales enablement, and marketing communications. She has a strong background working in matrix organizations and navigating mergers and acquisitions, with a particular focus on SaaS and digital marketing. She has a proven track record of high performance, including recognition in the top 0.5%. An exceptional storyteller, she is experienced in presenting to large sales audiences and executive teams and is equally skilled in crafting compelling written communications.

Bade began her career in 2000 as a marketing manager at Verizon. Over time, she advanced to the role of senior business development manager at Thryv, which was her most recent position before joining Microsoft. She earned an undergraduate degree in business administration with a focus on marketing from Cal State Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics.

50. Anne Liljenstrand
Managing Director, The Bader Group

Anne Liljenstrand is the Managing Director of The Bader Group. She is a seasoned leadership and organizational development practitioner with over 20 years of experience guiding leaders, teams, and organizations toward greater success. She partners with organizations to provide executive coaching, strategic planning, skill-building, and leadership workshops and facilitates sessions focused on building high-performing teams. Liljenstrand is bilingual and has served as a coach to the United Nations Secretariat, partnering with professionals around the world to build leadership and managerial skills. For over 15 years, she has provided executive coaching services at the Center for Creative Leadership, where she has also served as a mentor coach, training incoming executive coaches. Since 2008, she has taught in the UC San Diego Master of Advanced Studies in Clinical Research program.
