President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Nigeria into a global agricultural force through increased mechanisation and youth engagement in farming.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday at the official launch of the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme, Tinubu said the initiative would modernise farming and improve its appeal to young Nigerians.

“We have over 2,000 advanced tractors, 50 bulldozers, 12 mobile workshops, and more than 9,000 farming tools ready,” the president said. “This will make farming easier, create jobs, and make it ‘sexier’ for our youths.”

President Tinubu notted that the initiative involves partnerships with countries such as Belarus to provide Nigerian youth with training in advanced agricultural practices, machinery maintenance, and equipment production.

The objective is to empower them with valuable skills and encourage self-reliance.

He called on participants to use the provided tools wisely, affirming that their actions will be monitored and assessed.

Tinubu also praised the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for its contributions to tackling food insecurity and ensuring stability within the sector.

He declared the occasion a historic milestone, marking what he described as the rebirth of farming in Nigeria.
