Tinubu celebrates Alibaba at 60

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to Nigeria’s foremost stand-up comedian, compere, and actor, Alibaba Akpobome, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, describing him as a trailblazer who transformed the nation’s entertainment industry.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the contributions of the veteran entertainer, born Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, noting his pioneering role in building a thriving comedy industry in Nigeria.
“President Bola Tinubu celebrates Alibaba Akpobome… highlighting his immense contributions to the entertainment industry, describing him as a professional comic and trailblazer who transformed the industry,” the statement read.
Alibaba, who hails from Agbarha-Otor in Delta State, began his professional journey performing at corporate events and featuring on television and radio shows.
He later rose to prominence for his stage performances and signature humour at grand state events.
The president acknowledged Alibaba’s reputation as the father of stand-up comedy in Nigeria and commended him for helping to develop the industry into a vast ecosystem that now contributes to the country’s GDP.
President Tinubu also urged the iconic comedian to continue serving as an inspiration to the younger generation of performers, encouraging them to sharpen their craft and aspire to the pinnacle of success.
He wished Alibaba good health and many more years of impactful service to the entertainment industry.
