TiE rolls out `Mission 1x10x100’ to spawn one million entrepreneurs in India in 10 years

Hyderabad: Having created $1 trillion in value for the global entrepreneurial ecosystem in its over three-decade journey, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) has now charted an ambitious ‘Mission 1x10x100’ to fast-track Indian entrepreneurship over the next decade. The bold and aggressive vision aims to transform India’s entrepreneurial landscape by creating a million entrepreneurs that will generate over 10 million jobs and add over $100 billion to global GDP by 2035, Murali Bukkapatnam, chair, Global Board of Trustees for 2025, TiE, told TOI.“It aims to position India as a global leader in innovation and enterprise and boost global GDP in the process. It will catalyse job creation, address challenges of unemployment, and contribute to India’s socio-economic growth,” he said.

The plan, he said, is to provide access to mentorship, resources, and opportunities to foster a new generation of 1 million Indian entrepreneurs, not just in India but across Bharat down to its tier-3 and tier-4 towns and villages and with 35% of these 1 million to be women. To achieve this, TiE, which currently has 62 chapters globally, plans to increase this to 100 by end of this year. “Of 38 new chapters, at least 15-18 will be in India, in tier 3 and tier 4 cities like Raipur, Kalaburgi, and Shimoga to reach more entrepreneurs and provide them necessary support and resources,” he said.

Pointing out that the mission could was achieveable as early as 2030, he said TiE already helped create $1 trillion in wealth from the collective value of over 30,000 startups it fostered over three decades, including the early guidance and ecosystem support it lent to global giants like Google, Hotmail, and Exodus in the US, and startups like Naukri, RedBus, and MakeMyTrip in India.India already houses the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world after the US and China, with over 1.59 lakh DPIIT registered startups.

Admitting that the vision is bold, he said boldness was integral to entrepreneurship. “At TiE, we see ourselves as catalysts of entrepreneurial potential. Our role is to create the connective tissue through our chapters and charter members who will serve as mentors and enablers. It’s about igniting possibilities and acting on faith in India’s entrepreneurial future. But this is a shared mission that requires coordinated efforts from govts, investors, academia, corporates, and civic institutions.
