If there’s any celebrity that can sell out a piece of clothing or jewelry as soon as paparazzi shots of her wearing it are released, it’s Taylor Swift. Lucky for Swifties and fashionistas who admire the songstress’ chic style, one of the relatively affordable necklaces Swift has recently worn is finally back in stock today.

Over the years, Taylor Swift’s jewelry for game days in particular — donned while supporting boyfriend and tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce — generated a not-so-insignificant amount of buzz. As recently as last month, at the Super Bowl LIX, Swift subscribed to the TikTok-viral hand chain trend by showing off Logan Hollowell’s Eau de Rose Cut Iris Diamond Hand Chain in conjunction with ruby-studded bracelets and rings by Effy Jewelry. Obviously, everyone and their mothers ran to snag this exact accessory. Perhaps the first game day outfit essential that Swift put on the map is Fazit Beauty’s now-renowned freckle makeup patches, which absolutely popped when paired with the star’s signature red lip and smoky eye at a Chiefs vs Saints game last October.

This so-called “Taylor Swift effect,” which generates a drastic uptick in sales for previously under-the-radar brands (many of them women- or minority-owned), has worked its magic during the A-lister’s date nights, too. Case in point: On Dec. 28, 2024, Taylor Swift stepped out in New York City hand in hand with boyfriend Travis Kelce, and, though the latter sported a bold pants-plus-jacket ensemble that was anything but subtle, it was Swift’s necklace choice that made instant headlines. She wore a white-gold tennis necklace from the AAPI-owned brand Bonbonwhims: making it her most affordable jewelry decision of the evening, given the fact that her earrings cost $36,000 and her Cartier watch clocked in at a cool $32,200. This high-low mix was so effective and the Bonbonwhims necklace itself (with its striking chain and glittering heart-shaped gem at the center) was so drop-dead gorgeous that, of course, it sold out in a flash.

Devotees of Taylor Swift’s chic style were devastated, but now’s your chance to secure this dazzling heart necklace today. If its recent inventory depletion is any indication, though, something this good won’t last long, which is all to say: Drop everything and shop now.

The Heart Gumdrop Tennis Necklace’s main event (read: heart-shaped gemstone) is cubic zirconia, but it truly looks like real diamonds — which wouldn’t surprise us, considering its most iconic wearer is no other than the richest female musician in the world. The hypoallergenic necklace is also carefully crafted out of sterling silver and 18-karat plated for good measure. Want to go for something a bit more color-forward than white gold? The style is available in Icy Blue and Baby Pink, too, the former of which was featured on the Today Show back in 2023.

If years of paparazzi shots are any indication, Swift is no stranger to pairing budget-friendly jewelry and clothing with heirloom-status investment pieces. She matched an always-on-clearance $100 Victoria’s Secret silk corset, for instance, with a tweed blazer and mini skirt set from Versace for a preppy look at a Chiefs vs Broncos game last November. That same month, she walked around New York in a one-of-a-kind, five-figure vintage necklace from the brand For Future Reference but treated her wrist to the much more affordable $245 Luigi Bracelet from Ben-Amun. In an October 2024 video filmed at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, where she was warming up for yet another leg of the Eras Tour, Swift kept it casual — with an under-$200 Ralph Lauren sweatshirt, $99 sunglasses, and $199 jeans. The only outfit splurge here? Her $910 Isola sandals from Louis Vuitton, which took the look from casual to elevated in a snap.

In terms of jewelry arrangements specifically, Swift more often than not ensures that high-low pairings stay on different body parts versus layering them together. For proof, look no further than her city-chic dinner night outfit last October, in which a corduroy mini skirt from Acne Studios, a brown leather Madewell blazer, and Swift’s standard-setting red lipstick played starring roles (note that both the skirt and blazer are currently sold out). The jewelry situation on that occasion shaped it out to be one of Swift’s most masterful style moments. She flaunted the $70 Chain Link Necklace in gold from the brand Mazin Jewels, but only in her asymmetrical earring choices — courtesy of the $3,575 Pave Marquise Flying Thunderbird Drop Stud from Jacquie Aiche and Foundrae’s Forever & Always a Pair Pendant, presently unavailable online — did Swift shake things up, no pun intended.

Indeed, the record-breaking singer has a special place in her heart reserved for Mazin Jewels, whose selections she almost always puts in conversation with more expensive pieces from designers like Lorraine Schwartz and Stephanie Gottlieb (albeit, yet again, never stacked). In January 2024, she wore an all-black outfit punctuated by pops of gold vis-à-vis what was on her ears (Mazin Jewels’s $55 Baguette Hoops) and her neck (a four-figure, 18-karat gold pendant from Foundrae, also sold out). To push the colloquial gold envelope even further, Swift added an under-$160 chain belt.

All of these jewelry combinations and permutations might seem effortless, but Swift is quite strategic about making each one look put-together. For one, she’s always reluctant to mix metals, historically speaking. Even when the icon was spotted wearing over five distinct jewelry pieces (as she did for a Chiefs vs Saints game last year, with highlights like an over-$27,000 Cartier necklace and the $3,490 Cloud Offset Pear Ring from Shahla Karimi), they were all variations on a theme. The theme in question? Usually something in pink gold or yellow gold: metals that Swift might’ve realized somewhere down the line look better on her than their silver counterpart.

Price tags aside, the jewelry selections that catch the eye of Swift’s devotees, fashion critics, and casual lookers-on alike serve a much greater good: that of propping up small, previously unrecognized businesses whose pieces suddenly sell out in a flash thanks to Swift’s publicity. In April 2024, she put Vitaly’s 100-percent recycled stainless steel creations on the map with the gold Shimmer necklace, which proceeded to sell out not one but three whole times after the fact. Last October, she also made a sports jersey look cute — no easy feat! — by wearing the relatively chunky Julian Loves Diamonds Necklace from Melinda Maria, founded by designer Melinda Spigel. On her Eras Tour, microphone in hand, she also showed off the mythology-inspired Rhiannon Necklace by the female-run jewelry brand Awe Inspired.

In short, it’s clear that Swift’s superstar status doesn’t bar her from repping brands that anyone could afford… so long as pieces are arranged carefully in relationship to pricier ones of a higher quality. The good news? This gives businesses that aren’t household names yet a chance to break through the luxury echo chamber, as part of the aforementioned “Taylor Swift effect.” The bad news? Snagging a worn-by-Taylor necklace before it sells out is often a gargantuan task, but let Bonbonwhims’ Heart Gumdrop Tennis Necklace convince you that, while hard, this not impossible as long as you know where (and when!) to shop.

Bonbonwhims is a women- and AAPI-owned brand whose modus operandi is firmly rooted in channeling Y2K nostalgia. Founded in 2020 by Hong Kong-born and NYC-based jewelry designer Clare Ngai-Howard, Bonbonwhims is actively turning heads and stealing hearts with its bestselling pieces ranging from the candy-colored Ling Bling Rings to the hand-painted Pop Drop Earrings. Across the board, the brand’s offerings are as fun and on-trend as can be; as for its celebrity fans, Taylor Swift counts herself in the company of Ariana Grande, Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and beyond. Note that Bonbonwhims specializes in precious-yet-affordable jewelry, but that’s not the only thing it produces. Indeed, the company also sells hair clips, key chains, and bag charms that make for the perfect gift or self-care treat. As it happens, its Pillow Puff Initial Leather Bag Charm was sported by Sydney Sweeney last December — perfectly punctuating her all-black Miu Miu bag.
