This is how to access financing opportunities under the 24-Hour Economy initiative - BusinessGhana

Published 3 days ago3 minute read

Speaking at the official launch of the initiative on Wednesday, 2nd July, Mr Tanoh explained that Fund24 outlines how the financing component of the programme operates and can help users identify funding opportunities suited to their businesses.

The initiative is presented in nine documents: one comprehensive Full Report and eight subprogramme reports—Grow24, Make24, Build24, Show24, Connect24, Fund24, Aspire24, and Go24—each focusing on a specific operational area. The Full Report contains the complete content of all eight subprogrammes.

According to him, each subprogramme document includes introductory sections from the Full Report, along with its dedicated chapter, allowing readers to focus on specific areas of interest without losing the overall context.

Mr Tanoh emphasised that accessing Fund24 is a practical first step for those interested in exploring financing opportunities under the programme.

"Each of the remaining eight documents focuses on a specific subprogramme (Grow24, Make24, Build24, Show24, Connect24, Fund24, Aspire24, and Go24). Each subprogramme document includes the introductory sections of the Full Report and the chapter related to that subprogramme," he explained.

"For example, if you are interested in infrastructure issues, you can skip to the Connect24 subprogramme. This will provide you with our complete infrastructure programme and sufficient material to understand it within the context of the broader Programme."

On accessing financing opportunities, he said: "Similarly, if you are interested in financing opportunities, you can go directly to Fund24 and understand the strategy and hopefully find a suitable match. We will soon produce abridged versions, popular summaries, and animations to help communicate programme ideas and aspirations more widely."

Building synergy

He added that the 24H+ Programme will be coordinated with existing and planned government initiatives to avoid duplication and enhance collaboration with ministries, agencies, and local authorities to improve overall efficiency.

"We will work to align our projects with other current and planned government initiatives to minimise overlaps and increase synergy with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as with District Assemblies. This will help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of 24H+," he stated.

He added that the 24H+ incentives package will be finalised quickly, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, to make it clear, easy to apply, and free from unnecessary bureaucracy in order to avoid arbitrary decisions.

The goal, he noted, is to make the system more transparent, automatable, and strategically focused to maximise impact.

"We must eliminate unnecessary bureaucratic discretion so that some of the arbitrariness we currently experience becomes a thing of the past, making it easier to automate the system. Ultimately, we must ensure that we target incentives strategically to achieve optimal results," he added.

The 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, a flagship initiative of the National Democratic Congress' 2024 election campaign, is intended to boost productivity and transform the economy.
