Time Out’s comprehensive guide to the best cities in the world for food is all you should really need to awaken your appetite, but it can’t hurt to look off menu, can it?

The Forbes Travel Guide has what they call ‘incognito investigators’ investigating hotels, spas, cruises and restaurants for the annual Star Awards, and this year, 49 restaurants, whether they’re ‘recommended’, ‘four-star’, or ‘five-star’, have been recognised.

So, let’s tuck in. One of the ‘recommended’ inclusions in the Forbes Travel Guide was , a Canadian restaurant which blends swanky modern interiors with the cosiness of being in the mountains, and it specialises in dry-aged prime steaks.

In the ‘four-star’ category is , a laid-back, oceanside restaurant in Mexico whose menu is inspired by the Los Cabos region and aims to elevate those lip-smacking Mexican flavours.

Lastly, in the ‘five-star’ category is , an immersive restaurant in Dubai where you can dine – get this – next to an aquarium. The menu, which is described as ‘Ocean-inspired progressive fine dining’, features an elaborate 10-course tasting menu inspired by the region’s marine life.
