There is space for everyone in APC - Akin Alabi
The member representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives, Akin Alabi, has said that there is space for everyone in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Alabi said this on Wednesday in a statement on his official X account, reacting to a video where the immediate past Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye had said that there was no space for Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osun State’s APC.
“The Osun State’s APC governorship ticket is not for sale to the Adeleke family and there is no space for Ademola Adeleke in Osun APC,” Owoeye said in the video.
Reacting, Alabi who was recently crowned as the Jagun of Ibadan said there is space for everyone in the APC.
“Ticket not for sale, good point but saying there is no space for someone (let alone a sitting governor) in our party makes no sense and even goes against the tenets of democracy. There is space for everyone in our party,” he wrote.
Rumours had emerged that governor Adeleke was planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, especially after his visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos alongside his older brother, Adedeji Adeleke and David Adeleke known as Davido.
The leadership of the APC in Osun State, however, denied the rumour, with Owoeye saying during a press conference in Osogbo on Wednesday that the governorship ticket of the party is not for sale to the Adeleke family.
Owoeye also said: “The APC in Osun State remains the party to beat I want to tell you that if not because of the fear of unknown disturbing the Adeleke’s and PDP, they won’t show the intention of coming to the APC
“APC is fully on ground in Osun. If not for brigandage after the 2022 governorship and 2023 general elections, PDP will not have their way in Osun State.”
“The tenure of PDP is already terminated in Osun State. Come August 8, 2026, we will chase them away. There is no space for PDP and Adeleke in the APC.”
