The third season of Interview With The Vampire will finally start filming this month!

Last July, AMC dropped a teaser trailer for the upcoming third season of Interview With The Vampire, which will adapt Anne Rice's 1985 novel The Vampire Lestat. The first two seasons of the show mainly followed Louis (Jacob Anderson) as he became a vampire and moped through his long unlife, looking back on it with journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) years afte the fact. Daniel takes Louis' story and turns it into a best-selling book. In season 3, Lestat (Sam Reid) will take center stage and give us his side of the story. He has some problems with how he was portrayed:

That teaser whet fans' appetites, but it's only this month that cameras will actually start rolling on season 3. That information comes from TV Insider, which attended an Immortal Universe panel at the ATX TV Festival last week. I'll say it plain just so we have it on the record: . TV Insider doesn't mention an exact date.

I know that when I first saw that teaser I hoped that things would get rolling a bit faster than this — Sam Reid seemed to already have Lestat's new rock star persona down — but as long as I get to see this story continue, I'll find a way to be content.

According to executive producer Mark Johnson, filming will start up in Toronto, "of all places." In The Vampire Lestat, Lestat angers the vampire community, god and everyone by sharing vampire secrets to the public...through his rock music. According to showrunner Rolin Jones, the new season will basically be a "pop masterpiece," with lots of original songs throughout. You can hear one in the teaser trailer above.

On the panel, Jones revealed that Daniel Hart had written 16 songs for the new season, which basically makes this next stretch a musical. In The Vampire Lestat, Lestat and his band play for one night and one night only. The show will change things up a bit, picking up the story on stop 33 of Lestat's 50-city tour. Louis will appear in the new season, although Lestat will be at the center, which is how he likes it.

The first two seasons of Interview With The Vampire were so good that I'm willing to follow Jones, Reid and company pretty much anywhere. The third season will debut sometime in 2026.
