As 's release date flies closer and closer, new details about the movie are being released. Most recently, the film's runtime was unveiled, and audiences will get to enjoy 's Superman on the big screen for 2 hours 9 minutes when it's released on July 11. But, in the build-up to the runtime reveal, a rumor was circulating on the internet regarding Warner Bros.' faith in the film being a success. These rumors branched off to include everything from re-shoots to recasting, none of which have been proven to be true. The biggest rumor surrounding the film's runtime claimed that Warner Bros. forced DC Studios and James Gunn to slash the original Superman runtime, which would have been much longer than the above figure. But the director himself has directly addressed the rumor online.
James Gunn recently took to his trusted social media home of Threads to answer fan questions about Superman and the DCU. The big question revolved around Superman's runtime, which was revealed on the AMC website to be 2 hours and 9 minutes. "Yes. Inclusive of credits/post credits the runtime is 2 hours 9 minutes," the director responded to the question. Not only does this confirm the film's runtime, it also confirms that Superman will have at least one post-credits scene. However, given that they are now a staple of the comic book genre, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

Beneath his post, Gunn was asked a follow-up question about potential studio interference from Warner Bros. during the editing process. Superman, and all future DCU projects, are being produced by DC Studios, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Despite having 'ole Warners as its parent company, Gunn said that DC Studios stands as its own entity, and that Warner Bros. has no say over creative decisions like runtime. He responded:
"Zero truth to that. And they couldn't even if that's something that they wanted to. It's a DC Studios film."

Fans were always expecting Superman to have at least one post-credits scene. It would be more surprising if the film had none at all. Obviously, it's impossible to know what's in the post-credits scene(s) before the film releases next month, unless you're James Gunn. But, given the DCU's upcoming slate and Gunn's track record, we can make some assumptions.
It's most likely that Superman will have two post-credits scenes. The first will play mid-credits and will be some kind of tease or set-up for an upcoming project. It could tease Superman 2. Or, as the eponymous hero is confirmed to appear in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the scene could be a teaser for that, especially as that film's production is nearing its end. Gunn could even throw a curveball and use it to set up a new DCU project that hasn't yet been announced.
Finally, the post-credits scene will likely be some kind of gag scene involving the characters from Superman. Gunn often includes a jokey post-credits scene in each of his blockbuster superhero movies, and fans are expecting Superman to be no different.
