Chioma Chukwukah, What Was That Stunt For?
Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwukah emerged the Best Female Actress at the recently organised Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award, AMVCA, held in Lagos. Aunty Chioma won the award for her role in Seven Doors, a film by popular Yoruba actor, Femi Adebayo, but that is not the news here. The actress could not make it to the awards’ ceremony, it was Adebayo who picked up the plaque for her. Still that is not the news here. The next day, a video surfaced online showing aunty Chioma crying so emotionally and at first, T4T thought she lost a loved one, only to discover that it was her way of thanking the organisers, fans and people who voted her. Really? Chioma is truly a good actress because for one to be in her kitchen (the background in the video depicted a kitchen) of your house, set up a ring light and get the camera rolling and then begin to cry that hard, to show how well you value the award…wow!
Anyway, congratulations Aunty Chioma on your score. May you have the opportunity to cry like that many more times(that is to say you will win more awards be dat since na only then you dey set camera for house and cry).

Nice One, Obesere
FUJI superstar, Abbas Obesere is one artiste who has come a very long way in the music industry. From the days of ‘Ashakasha’ when he was king of lewd lyrics to the present, Obesere has never left his large followers made up mostly of people of Yoruba extraction, high and dry. Immediately after the worldwide pandemic, COVID-19, Obesere may have reached a decision to target the younger generation, so he switched his style of music to a more ‘funkyfied’ version. The first single he did as an experiment did not have the desired impact, but the two singles he recently released which are enjoying favourable play time on AfricaMagic Yoruba are the bombs! ‘Agba Alhaji’ and ‘Egungun Be Careful ’(hope T4T got the titles right) will surely take over the dancefloors of clubs and parties across the country, soon. Obesere does not look like he is retiring soon, and that is why the likes Davido, Olamide(especially) should not rest on their oars because truly, this ‘old Alhaji’ is on their trail.
Of a truth, T4T is impressed, so, this is to say, nice one ‘Agba Alhaji’.

When That Yoruba Movie Made One Run ‘Heltah Skeltah’
T4T had asked this question before, on several occasions; who is this guy(s) handling the subtitling of Yoruba movies? In case you have not read T4T made this enquiry, and the reason why he is doing that again, now, then sit tight, you will soon know. On Monday, T4T was watching this Yoruba movie, titled ‘Alaabo Mi’, a 2022 flick that starred Mide FM, Abiola Adedayo among others. Everything was going on well up to the point the fella behind the subtitling translated what Mide FM said in Yoruba and this was what he wrote in English: “I don’t have the time to run “heltah skeltah’…” But for the word run in the line, T4T would never have had any idea that the person meant ‘helter skelter’.
What should worry anybody is that the Director, Kenny Lanre, actually did a preview(did he?) B
before he signed off on the work. He deserves an Oscar award which should be delivered to him straight from America. The guy na world class Director. Mind you, the ‘heltah skeltah’ was not the only kamikaze(oyinbo wise) that the subtitling guy committed in that movie, if T4T decides to review the others, we may need more than this space to take them.

Casting In That Movie Gone Wrong
IF you know most popular Yoruba movie actors very well, then, you should know Femi Adebayo and Liz Da Silva. If Femi is older than Da Silva, that is if, it won’t be more than some couple of years.

That was why T4T was shocked to see that Adebayo was the ‘father’ of Da Silva in the movie titled ‘Eto Kane’! How did that even happen? How did the Director arrive at that aberration?

As if that was not enough, the other daughter of Adebayo in that movie is also as old as he is and there is no way it was medically possible in real life for brother Femi to give birth to both Da Silva and her ‘sister’. Before you argue that it is just a movie na, please note that drama is an imitation of life, so, whatever is portrayed in a movie should be close to what happens in real life. There are ways to achieve some tricks in movies, and thhat is where the make up artist comes in. He or she should have made Femi to look much older, but no! Aside the parting on his hair, Femi looked like Femi in that movie directed by Adebayo Tijani(obviously one of Femi’s siblings). Ayo Adesanya who was ‘wife’ of Femi in that movie was another casting disaster. Aunty Ayo could conveniently play the role of Femi Adebayo in any movie and nobody would raise an eyebrow. What award should we give the Director of Eto Kane, since we have already gifted the Oscar to Kenny Lanre? Well, next year’s Best Director, AMVCA.
To God be the glory!
