TCU Basketball Loses Senior Star to Transfer Portal
On Monday, the second player to hit the transfer portal from TCU surfaced, and that player is a big one.
On3’s Joe Tipton was the first to announce that senior guard has decided to go portaling after sustaining a season-ending injury after just nine games in Ft. Worth.
In 2024-25, Collins saw action in just nine games, averaging 11.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. His season was taken away after suffering a broken foot in the non-conference schedule. Collins transferred to TCU last offseason after one season at Michigan and two at Arizona State.
Coming out of Coronado High School in the Class of 2021, Collins was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 47th-ranked player. He also checked in as the seventh-ranked player at his position and the second-ranked player in the state of Nevada.
The transfer portal officially opens on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
