Tango music festival returns to Champaign-Urbana - NewsBreak
CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — A festival dedicated to celebrating and educating the public about Argentine tango music, dance and culture is happening this weekend in Champaign-Urbana.
The CU Tango Music Festival will take place April 3-6 throughout Champaign-Urbana.

Program organizers said new this year, they’ll have performances and a collaboration with 40 North 88 West’s Boneyard Arts Festival and Krannert Uncorked at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.
On Friday, attendees can enjoy contemporary tango music with some of the most prolific names in tango. The performance will be at the Urbana Dance Company, beginning at 8 p.m.
The next day, you can try learning the dance yourself. An intro to tango class will take place at the Urbana Dance Company at 8 p.m.

The fun continues into Sunday. You can bring your instrument and join in on the jam during the “Practica with Brunch and Jam.” It’ll take place at the Urbana Dance Company from 10 a.m. to noon. For a full list of events happening this weekend, click here .
The festival first began in 2021. It started as a way to feature classic and contemporary tango in Champaign-Urbana and has since grown into a larger festival that includes classes, performances and outreach.
