Syrian authorities have reported that approximately 140,000 individuals remain missing, with signs of mass graves emerging across the country. The White Helmets rescue group has been incorporated into Syria’s Emergency and Disasters Ministry.
Syrian authorities have announced that approximately 140,000 individuals remain missing, as the country continues to suffer from years of devastating conflict.
Emergency and Disasters Minister Raid Al-Saleh, speaking at a press conference in Damascus, stated that the figure is based on information from human rights organizations.
The minister also noted signs indicating the existence of mass graves across Syria, but acknowledged that there are currently no precise statistics regarding their number.
Additionally, Al-Saleh revealed that the White Helmets rescue group has been incorporated into the Emergency and Disasters Ministry.
In a major political shift, President Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia in December, marking the end of the Baath Party’s rule since 1963.
Following Assad’s departure, Ahmed al-Sharaa, a former terrorist leader of ISIS forces, was appointed as interim president in January.
