Nintendo Switch Games Get Massive Performance Boost on Switch 2 without a patch

Multiple Nintendo Switch games, such as Bayonetta 3 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, are experiencing performance improvements and loading time decreases, thanks to the more powerful Switch 2 hardware. For example, Bayonetta 3 can now reach 60 frames per second during all moments of gameplay. It seems to be the best way to play certain Nintendo Switch games by getting a Switch 2, thanks to the backwards compatibility.

Content creators on X and YouTube have been putting the new Nintendo system through its paces after the Nintendo Switch 2 launched on Friday. Some games have officially been updated with new patches to make use of the Nintendo Switch 2 console's capabilities. However, others have been improved without any patches needed. Washington Post video games critic Gene Park has posted a video of Bayonetta 3 running at 60 frames per second. The intense action game previously had issues running a stable frame rate. Now, the visual improvements are night and day with the game running on the Nintendo Switch 2. The "Switch 2 just brute forces to hit the frame cap," said Park on X.

While Jamboree did include some real classics, fans are still looking to see more of the best and brightest minigames make an updated comeback.

Another game that seems to be get a massive upgrade is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. With the power of the SSD within the Nintendo Switch 2, the game loads exceptionally quickly, in some cases not even letting you see the characters in the loading screen before it jumps into battle. Fox News SSB reshared a video on X, showcasing the speed of the game on Switch 2. The game previously struggled to run the game at a solid 60 frames per second when eight instances of the Ice Climbers appear on screen. Thankfully, the Nintendo Switch 2 runs the game like butter in scenarios like this. Super Smash Bros. competitor Hungrybox calls it a "super improvement" on X.

If that's not enough for Super Smash Bros. fans, Ultimate can now spawn characters faster with the Nintendo Switch 2's power, making Team Battle a more enjoyable experience.

Super Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4 both have native Switch 2 versions to play.

Batman Arkham Knight is a critically acclaimed game

This doesn't just include first-party titles either. Digital Foundry reports that Batman: Arkham Knight now runs at a smooth 30 frames per second, thanks to the Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt runs smoothly, especially in areas that are hard to run like Novigrad. SwitchUp says that Borderlands 3 runs at a "flawless 60 frames per second," and the gyro functionality seems to be a "little bit more accurate." The graphical limitations of the original hardware's Borderlands 3 port still occur, unfortunately, like corpses exploding instead of staying in the one spot. There are also issues with the lighting system.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will hopefully include more specific console versions as the generation continues. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (one of the best Switch games of all time) and Tears of the Kingdom have been both been given better resolutions, improved frame rates, and new functionality with an app to improve the overall experience.
