Swansea mock Cardiff's relegation to League One | Aaron Ramsey makes damning admission

Published 2 weeks ago6 minute read

Swansea City fans chanted about Cardiff, with kit men seen joining in upon hearing that Cardiff are returning to the third tier for the first time since 2002-03.

The taunts only kept coming on social media, with Swansea’s Gonçalo Franco having a pop at his side’s rivals, while former players Connor Roberts and Lee Trundle continued to wind up Bluebirds fans.

While live on air, BBC presenter and Cardiff fan Jason Mohammed could be seen gutted while reporting on Cardiff City’s relegation on Final Score.

Swansea’s Ashley Williams could be seen dramatically reacting with his head in his hands, later stating the relegation was “bad for Welsh football.” Mohamed humorously claimed he preferred rugby union anyway.

Aaron Ramsey expressed deep disappointment, stating he was “gutted” as a fan and player, admitting the team haven’t been good enough over the course of the season.

“I don’t know [about next season]. Now is the time to digest everything over the next few weeks.

“I’m gutted. I’m a fan as well. I’m sad to see this club going down. The fans have had a difficult time this season and I really feel for them. I know how they’re feeling.

“I think if the right structures are in place with coaching staff and things, these players will give you everything.

“If they can do that and give them the opportunities they deserve, then of course they’re more than capable of coming straight back up.

“There’s a lot of quality in that team. They should be competing towards the top end of this league, never mind League One.

“Things are a little different to what I’ve experienced at other clubs. Normally you do have a head of football or a sporting director, things like that, who are overseeing everything, day-to-day operations, and they are aligned with the club.

“But the biggest thing for me is making sure the right coaching staff is there, because they drive the right habits and create a culture. So that’s the most important thing, making the right decision in that and trusting the right person with that to bring in the right people around them, who has the team’s best interest at heart.

“As long as that structure is OK you can get away with a lot of other things and you can give these players an opportunity.

“At the end of the day, everyone has to look at themselves in the mirror and we have to be big enough to accept that. It’s so, so important, because this club has got so much potential, it’s just about getting that right and it’s about responding to this and getting back quickly.”

“I’m just devastated as a fan… today we saw how much it means to them [the fans]” 😔

: This is actually sad. Reckon you should keep Ramsey though as he understands the club. Hope you come straight back up 👏

: I think the writing has been on the wall for you for a few years. Welcome to what is the mad house of league one. Yourll appreciate it is a tough league, can be fun, can be frustrating, and if you though officials in champ were bad, welcome to a new level of poor 👋

: The board and Riza have officially killed this club, we are rotten from top to bottom. They talked about Premier League but sent us to League One… GET RID OF THEM ALL 🤬🖕🏻

: Get Tan out and all of his yes men at board level. Need a complete reset at our club. Only when things change at the top can we really move forward as a football club.

: Tan and the board out. They’ve killed this club.

: Can the board at least have some bollocks and speak up as the silence is defining , you should be ashamed you absolute cunts, you’ve run our club into the ground, now at least have the bollocks to speak up #cunts

: Tan has absolutely ruined this club. This is what you get for having car salesmen at the top instead of someone who knows football. Absolute shambles for years

: Realistically I’m heartbroken. It comes from the top. I’ve seen people say the squad wasn’t good enough. Unfortunately tan finally took us down. Feel for us fans, feel for players, the likes of Ralls and O’dowda. I feel for Ramsey for being put in this shit position.

: Sleep walking into oblivion. And it’s been on the cards for a few years now. Big changes are needed on and off the pitch. A big shame but not a shock, it was always coming. Reading saved us the other season when we should have gone down then.

@WelshWestwood: As a Cardiff fan, we deserved to go down, I’m not being a nobhead or anything, but maybe this is a learning curve for them, maybe a reset down is what’s needed to rejig the team, the board & whatever else needs improving for next season.

@mickyh01: Your in for a shock, imagine a league of tinpot teams, with tinpot cry baby fans and some of worst refereeing you will ever see 🤣 that’s where your heading 👍🤣🤣

HAVE YOUR SAY –

Do you think Aaron Ramsey should stay in charge? If not, who should Cardiff permanently appoint? Can you see them with an immediate promotion back? Or could we expect them to struggle? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or tweet us @fan_banter
