Suniel Shetty Comes Out In Support Of Aamir Khan Amid Boycott Calls Against Sitaare Zameen Par: 'Should Forget…' - Entertainment
Recently, Aamir Khan has found himself embroiled in controversy as calls to boycott his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, gained traction online. The backlash stems from his delayed response to Operation Sindoor and the resurfacing of an old video featuring him with the Turkish First Lady, which went viral. Suniel Shetty has now stepped in to defend Aamir, arguing that Bollywood is unfairly targeted.
In an interview with ABP News, Suniel Shetty stated, “People should forget the past. The past does not represent today’s time. Turkey’s situation then and now is very different. So, what we do going forward should be our own decision, rather than judging based on the past. When you go to big social gatherings, you don’t always know who you’re posing for pictures with. In today’s time, if you don’t pose, you’re called ‘rude’, and if you do so unknowingly, you still become a target.”

He further elaborated, “Humesha Bollywood ke peeche pade rehte hai. Bollywood doesn’t come forward in this. If it’s about the country, politicians will speak; if it’s in the nation’s interest, we will definitely support it; that’s why we even make such films. We are trying to do our job. Speaking about my industry, I can say there are more India-centric individuals here than anywhere else in the world.”
For those unaware, Aamir Khan, who is not active on social media, relies on his production house, Aamir Khan Productions, to issue statements on his behalf. Recently, the production house shared a message congratulating the Indian Armed Forces for Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory strike against terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack. However, some netizens labeled this as a publicity stunt, particularly due to the timing of the statement, which coincided with the trailer launch of Sitaare Zameen Par, leading to accusations of opportunism.
Additionally, a 2017 video of Aamir Khan meeting Turkey’s First Lady Emine Erdogan resurfaced online, fueling further controversy due to Turkey’s alleged support for Pakistan. This has prompted some netizens to call for a boycott of Sitaare Zameen Par, with certain users connecting Khan’s past actions to his current project, intensifying the online debate.
