Suffolk man arrested for alleged sex crimes in Georgia - Newsday
New York State Police arrested a Hampton Bays man wanted in Georgia for alleged sex crimes involving a minor, state police said in a Friday news release.
Oswin M. Guillen Padilla, 41, was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with four counts of possessing sexual performance by a child less than 16, the news release said.
The Duluth Police Department in Georgia contacted the state police on Wednesday for help in tracking down Padilla, who was wanted for allegedly engaging in explicit online communications with a minor.
The Duluth police began the investigation after "the victim's mother discovered numerous photos and videos involving inappropriate content and messages exchanged between the victim and Padilla," state police said in the news release.
During an interview with state police, Padilla admitted communicating with children on apps such as Telegram and TikTok in order to "intentionally seek out explicit content ... even when he knew their age," state police said.
The four charges Padilla faces in New York are Class E felonies, each of which carries a sentence of up to four years in prison if he’s convicted. State Troopers transported Padilla to Southampton Town Court to be arraigned on the charges.
Padilla’s attorney did not immediately respond to Newsday's request for comment,
