Stick Stars: Top performances in LI boys and girls lacrosse - Newsday

There were no shortage of massive wins and tremendous performances in Long Island lacrosse this week. Here are the players who stood out. 

Berhalter provided the winning assist to Luke Griffin and had a game-high six points (four goals, two assists) in Kings Park’s biggest win of the season against East Islip Thursday.

Busking scored four goals, including the winner as time expired against Comsewogue Wednesday. Reilly exploded for six goals and two assists in a wild 17-16 win over Sayville.

He scored five goals and assisted another to lead Wheatley/Carle Place to a 10-7 win Monday over Sewanhaka.

 The Phantoms notched a good non-league win against Homer, with Curran scoring six goals and assisting two more last Saturday. He added a goal and four assists for a game-high five points Wednesday against Smithtown West.

Fitzpatrick provided dominant defense as a long-stick midfielder in No. 14 Chaminade’s 11-10 win over No. 13 St. Anthony’s, the Flyers’ first win over the Friars since May 2021.

The goalie logged his 500th save and added an end-to-end goal against East Islip Monday. He added 15 saves in Miller Place’s 14-8 win over Eastport-South Manor.

O’Toole scored four goals and assisted four more in Kellenberg’s 19-13 win over St. Dominic Thursday. Power had five points and scored the overtime winner in Kellenberg’s 9-8 win over Connecticut’s Cheshire Tuesday.

He scored the overtime goal Saturday in an impressive win over Smithtown East. He had a seven-goal game against Lindenhurst earlier on Thursday.

Riedel’s winning goal in double overtime for Long Beach was doubly sweet in its 9-8 decision over fellow Nassau II contenders MacArthur.

Bezmalinovic made a career-high 17 saves to lead Commack past Ward Melville Monday.

 She scored five goals apiece in wins over East Meadow, Friends Academy and Floral Park. She totaled nine assists over the three games. She kicked off her week with a nine-point game against Friends Academy Monday and followed with a 10-point game against East Meadow Wednesday. She scored five goals again in a win over Floral Park Friday. 

She scored two goals and assisted three more against Bethpage Monday, tallying her 100th career goal in the process.

Eleven games, eleven wins for Division. Motes helped the Blue Dragons add three of those victories this week by totaling six goals and seven assists against Carey, Mineola and New Hyde Park.

The three accounted for 21 of their 29 goals and 13 of their 21 assists in wins this week over Babylon, Smithtown West and Connecticut’s Wilton. Shoutout to Mia Nicolosi for her overtime winner over the Bulls.

She introduced herself to Staten Island Academy in a major way, combining for 16 goals and seven assists in the Bears’ two wins over SIA this week.

The Friars just keep rolling. Speed scored seven goals and had four assists this week as St. Anthony’s defeated Kellenberg and Connecticut’s Wilton.

She scored five goals against both Huntington and against Half Hollow Hills, adding an assist in the latter game as the cherry on top.
