Steelers Trade George Pickens To Playoff Contender: Report
The Cowboys confirmed the move in a post shared on their X account shortly after Schefter's report.
"TRADE ALERT We’ve agreed to terms to acquire WR George Pickens and a 2026 6th-round pick from the Steelers in exchange for a 2026 3rd-round pick and a 2027 5th-round pick," the Cowboys wrote on their X account.
Cowboys owner had previously claimed to have been working on "two pretty substantive trades" that he said could possibly take place "before or after" the 2025 NFL Draft last month.
"Two days before the NFL Draft, Jerry Jones said he was working on “pretty substantive trades” that could happen 'before or after the draft.' Jones nailed it. Less than two weeks after the NFL draft, he soon will complete a substantive trade for George Pickens," Schefter wrote on his X account.
Pickens, 24, who was selected by Pittsburgh in the second-round of the 2022 NFL Draft at No. 52 overall, is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Steelers general manager had previously claimed that the team was looking to reach an extension with the wide receiver before the reported trade.
Pittsburgh had previously acquired wide receiver in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks in March and is awaiting an answer from free agent quarterback on whether he intends to play in 2025. Pickens will play opposite All-Pro wide receiver in a Cowboys offense that will return starting quarterback , who missed the team's final nine games of the 2024 NFL season due to a hamstring avulsion that required surgery.
