season 2 concluded without many significant cameos, but viewers believe they may have seen a sneaky cameo of one well-known character from The Mandalorian. With Andor season 2's place in the Star Wars timeline, audiences were wondering whether we'd see some of the biggest characters from Star Wars movies and TV shows, such as Princess Leia Organa. As it happens, Tony Gilroy almost included a Leia cameo in Andor, but he ultimately decided against it, as he did with Jyn Erso.
This was in part the nature of Andor. This show intended to set itself apart by both breaking the mold and avoiding direct overlaps with the Skywalker Saga when possible. Ultimately, that made Andor even more obviously one of Star Wars' best TV shows, as it truly felt like something new and exciting in Star Wars and avoided some of the pitfalls other shows and movies have fallen into. Even so, .

In the Andor season 2 finale, one shot shows someone running with Ruescott Melshi, and while that may seem insignificant at first glance, eagle-eyed viewers began suspecting Cara Dune. Specifically, viewers have called out the character's armor and the color of her belt and pants as oddly similar to Cara's in The Mandalorian. This was among the Easter eggs ScreenCrush pointed out in their Andor season 2 roundup (at the 24-minute mark).
Of course, this is only a very quick shot, and seeing the character from behind with just a few seemingly identical clothing items isn't a lot to go off of. This timeline would make sense for Cara Dune, though. The Mandalorian timeline sets the show approximately a decade after these events in Andor season 2, so it's easy to imagine that Cara could have been on Yavin 4 during this scene and landed where she was in The Mandalorian. .

It's long been known that Cara Dune is from Alderaan, and . This would be a very easy way for Star Wars to answer this question, as Cara could already have been on Yavin by the time Alderaan was destroyed. Particularly given how close the Andor season 2 finale is to A New Hope in the Star Wars timeline, this would completely make sense.
This would be a very easy way for Star Wars to answer this question, as Cara could already have been on Yavin by the time Alderaan was destroyed.
In a way, . Were this the case, she, not unlike Leia, would already have been entirely dedicated to the fight against the Empire, only for her planet (and presumably nearly everyone she loved) to be destroyed. In addition to fleshing out Cara's background and answering this question, confirmation that this was in fact her on Yavin 4 would solidify her role in the Star Wars franchise in a new way.

What Happened To Cara Dune After Mandalorian Season 2
Disney fired Gina Carano after The Mandalorian season 2, meaning the future of the New Republic Marshal Cara Dune is a subject of intense debate.
. This is particularly noteworthy in light of the character's uncertain future in Star Wars. Thus far, Cara Dune, portrayed by Gina Carano, has only appeared in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian. She was notably absent from season 3, and Carano's canceled Star Wars show, Rangers of the New Republic, is unlikely to ever be resurrected. This cancelation and Carano's Mandalorian season 3 absence both came on the heels of Carano being let go by Disney.
Specifically, a series of social media posts by Carano stirred up enough controversy that many began calling on Disney to fire her, primarily via the hashtag #FireGinaCarano. Ultimately, Lucasfilm released the following statement on the matter:
"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
There is actually an ongoing lawsuit, brought on by Carano, regarding this termination.
The circumstances surrounding Carano being let go aside, to say the least, and it feels doubtful at this time that we will ever see her on screen again. This possible cameo in Andor would therefore have been a nice way for Star Wars to connect Cara to another story without requiring Carano's return. It's unlikely we will get confirmation regarding whether this was Cara Dune, but it's possible that season 2 had a shocking (and easy to miss) cameo from this major character in The Mandalorian.
