St. John's Announces Kadary Richmond News After First Season With Rick Pitino
The St. John's Red Storm climbed to the top of the Big East last season, winning the conference tournament title under head coach Rick Pitino.
Pitino led St. John's to a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, guiding some of the most talented players in the conference, such as RJ Luis Jr., Zuby Ejiofor and Kadary Richmond.
After the season, in which the Red Storm were eliminated in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, a couple of St. John's players were honored in a program ceremony.
Richmond, who was playing in his first season under Pitino, was named the team's Most Valuable Player.
"Our MVP," posted the official social media account of the St. John's men's basketball team. "Congratulations to Kadary Richmond on earning the Christian L. Thomsen Memorial Award! The award celebrates the team’s most valuable player."
Despite St. John's star RJ Luis Jr. winning Big East Player of the Year, St. John's labeled Richmond as "Our MVP."
