SRFDCL Website Hacked, Language Changed to Japanese

The official website of the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd (SRFDCL), which is operated by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, was potentially hacked. This was indicated by the SRFDCL website’s meta description on Google search results appearing in Japanese. The meta description in Japanese referred to 'sale and discounts on beds'.

According to a senior AMC official, it is possible that the website was hacked and the meta description for the website on Google was altered. The official stated that their website developers and technical teams have redirected the website to its parent web address and cleaned it up. However, the compromised meta description may still appear in Google search results until Google recrawls and re-indexes the site. Google’s search crawlers can take time to index changes made to a website.

AMC officials are currently investigating whether there were any attempts to redirect web traffic to malicious sites or to display unwanted content in search results. The official noted that the hackers might not have fully taken over the site, or the malicious code might only be designed to affect the meta information displayed in search results.
