South-South Supports Tinubu's Restructuring Move - Otu
Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has assured that the South-South region supports President Bola Tinubu’s move to restructure the country.
Otu, the Vice Chairman of the South-South Governors’ Forum, expressed delight that Nigeria is undergoing economic restructuring, particularly in the area of fiscal responsibility.
According to him, Nigeria, as a nation, is turning the corner and the South-South region must align with the centre to ensure that the restructuring is successful.
Speaking to journalists at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar on his return to Cross River State, Governor Otu observed that though the times are tough, it’s essential that “we swallow this bitter pill that will make us an independent nation.”
“The leadership is working tirelessly to ensure the South-South is properly aligned at the centre, pushing beyond politics to achieve genuine restructuring.”
According to the governor, the region is set to chart a new course, driven by unity and a shared vision.
“The BRACED Commission, a grouping of the states of the region, has been activated. It serves as what I call the ‘brain unit’ of the South-South, with well-structured master plans to drive development,” he noted.
He said the next South-South Governors’ Forum meeting will be held in Calabar, adding that leaders would unveil a strategic roadmap for the region’s future.
