Sources: Man United make decision after Stoke City approach for 19-yr-old

have rejected an approach from Stoke City for midfielder Ruben Curley,

Stoke expressed an interest in signing the 19-year-old midfielder before Monday's transfer deadline, but the player is set to remain at Old Trafford for the second half of the season.

Curley, who has come through the ranks at Old Trafford, is out of contract at the end of the season, but United do hold an option on his contract.

The midfielder has yet to make a first-team appearance this season for the 20-time champions, but the club are keen to keep him.

Curley has featured seven times in the Premier League 2 while he has also featured once in the EFL Trophy for the Under-21s side, registering one assist.

It remains to be seen whether or not Mark Robins' side returns with further interest to push for Curley to join Stoke before the January transfer window closes.

Stoke currently sit 18th in the Championship and are just five points above the relegation zone after a mixed first half of the campaign.

Robins' side have only won seven of their 30 matches so far, which is why he's looking to strengthen his squad for the remainder of the season.

Curley would have been given game time at the Bet365 Stadium, but United want him to remain in Manchester until the end of the season.

The teenager could be available on a free transfer at the end of the season if United don't look to exercise their option on his contract.

Curley has made 18 appearances for United's Under-21s and a further 19 for the Under-18s side throughout his career.
