KOLKATA: Former Indian cricket captain
Sourav Ganguly
had a close call on Thursday when his car was involved in an accident while traveling to

for an event.
The incident occurred in a rural area of Hooghly, where two vehicles in his convoy sustained minor damage.
However, Ganguly remained unharmed and continued with his scheduled program without any disruptions.
No injuries were reported among the occupants of the convoy vehicles.
"In the sudden movement of the lorry, the driver of Ganguly's car had to apply a sudden brake which led to a collision with vehicles in his convoy following him," a police officer of West Bengal Police said.
"One vehicle even hit the car in which the former cricketer was travelling. Two vehicles in his convoy sustained minor damages," he said.
The former cricketer was travelling to attend a programme organised by Burdwan University, the officer said.
"He (Ganguly) attended the programme later on. It went smoothly," the policeman said.
'Upcoming biopic'
Ganguly has confirmed that Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao will portray him in his upcoming biopic. Speaking to the media, Ganguly stated, “From what I’ve heard, Rajkummar Rao will play the role but due to scheduling issues, it will take more than a year to release.”
Ganguly, who played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs for India, amassed 18,575 international runs and led the team to 21 Test victories, along with a memorable 2003 World Cup final appearance. A
After retiring in 2008, the 'Prince of Kolkata' took charge as the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president before becoming the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president in 2019. He also served in BCCI’s technical committee and was part of the Cricket Advisory Committee alongside Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for multiple projects. He will next be seen in Bhool Chuk Maaf, co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi. The film’s teaser, recently unveiled by the makers, presents a quirky storyline where Rajkummar’s character gets stuck in a time loop during his wedding festivities. A highlight of the teaser was the use of Chor Bazaari, a song from the 2009 film Love Aaj Kal, in which Wamiqa had a minor role.
Directed by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf is backed by Maddock Films in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. In addition, Rajkummar is also set to appear in Maalik, produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani, which is slated for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025.
