Network (PSN) is back online after a 24-hour outage. This outage disrupted gaming services for users worldwide. The Japanese gaming major confirmed the restoration of

on social media platform X (earlier Twitter), stating that online features should now be accessible without issues. The outage prevented users from launching games, apps, and other network features. Sony has also apologised for the inconvenience but did not provide details about the cause of the disruption.

In its initial post, the company said: “PSN has been restored. You should be able to access online features without any problems now. For more details: https://status.playstation.com.Sorry for the inconvenience!”
Later on, Sony shared another post where it wrote: “Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience. All PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional 5 days of service.”

This network failure prevented many Sony console owners, including PS4 and PS5 users, from playing multiplayer games like "Fortnite" and "Call of Duty."
According to outage tracking site DownDetector.com, at its peak, nearly 8,000 users in the US and more than 120 users in India reported an issue with the network. However, the complaints gradually declined later in the day, though service did not fully return to normal. Some affected players also took to social media to share memes.
“PSN down on a friday night is criminal," one user wrote on X.

Another user praised Steam and said: “Sony PSN has been down for an entire day. Completely offline across all platforms, preventing online gaming, store purchases, game updates, etc. A service that costs users money to access. Steam never goes down. Steam is free. Be like Steam."

A third user shared a photo of a library of physical game discs and wrote: “PSN is down 😡 This is one of the reasons why physical is better than digital.”
