Sinners is bringing its bloodsuckers to streaming.

The vampire horror movie, directed by Ryan Coogler, was a box office sensation when it premiered in theaters in April 2025, and now, it's available to watch on Max starting on July 4.

Set in 1932, twins Smoke and Stack — both played by Michael B. Jordan — return to their hometown in Mississippi after years of working with mobsters in Chicago. Using the money they earned from illicit activities, the brothers buy an old sawmill from a patronizing local man, Hogwood (David Maldonado), who promises them the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is no longer active in the area.

With that, the Smokestack twins set in motion their plan to turn the place into a juke joint. They recruit their cousin Sammie (Miles Caton) and Stack's ex Mary (Hailee Steinfeld), among others, to help them make their nightclub dreams a reality.

Shortly after, Smoke and Stack open their new establishment, and the party starts as a joyous occasion. That is, until a vampire named Remmick (Jack O'Connell) arrives, and turns the festivities into a deadly bloodbath as the revelers fight to make it to dawn.

So who survives the night? Here's everything to know about the Sinners ending, including the post-credit scenes and whether Coogler has a sequel planned.

After the wild evening at the sawmill turns into a vampire showdown, most party attendees are reborn as bloodsuckers — including Stack and Mary — with only Smoke and Sammie left standing.

Remmick confronts Sammie in the river by the sawmill, and Sammie fights back with his guitar. When Remmick gets hit in the head, it leaves him — and his psychically linked vampire followers — stunned long enough for Smoke to impale him with a stake.

As night eventually turns into day, the sun rises, bathing Remmick and his vampire vandals in light and turning them into smoke and ash.

Their nightmare is over, but Smoke tells Sammie to leave. Earlier, Remmick warned them that Hogwood and his fellow KKK members would be returning in the morning to kill them.

Sammie listens and flees. He returns to his father's church, still holding his bloody guitar, as Smoke stays back to confront Hogwood and his men.

Sammie is the sole survivor in Sinners. The vampires and their victims are killed.

The only people who make it through the traumatic night at the juke joint are Smoke and Sammie. Smoke eventually meets his end the following morning, not by the vampires, but after a shootout with the KKK.

Yes, Smoke dies at the end of Sinners. He survives his ordeal with the vampires, but in the morning, members of the KKK arrive at the sawmill, hoping to surprise and murder Smoke, Stack and other patrons.

But the uninvited men are the ones who are shocked when Smoke ambushes them with a Tommy gun. Although he kills the KKK members, Smoke is also fatally shot in the process.

As Smoke lies dying, he sees a vision of his dead wife, Annie (Wunmi Mosaku), and their baby daughter. The image comforts him, as he knows he will be reunited with them soon.

Sinners has two post-credit scenes. The first one flashes forward 60 years to 1992, and Sammie (George "Buddy" Guy) is now a famous blues musician with his own bar where he performs.

He finishes a set and sits at the bar nursing a drink when Stack and Mary walk in. They are vampires, looking the same as they did back in 1932, but they are now wearing the latest '90s fashion.

At the end of that fateful night, Mary escaped and ran off. She eventually joined Stack, and they lived as vampires. Stack explains that he made a deal with Smoke to spare Sammie's life and leave him alone.

The pair offer Sammie a chance at eternal life, but he declines and instead chooses to play some music for them. They respect Sammie's decision and exit the bar, leaving him alone with his music and memories of that fateful night.

In April 2025, Coogler told Entertainment Weekly that the scene "is incredibly important to the narrative in many ways. The movie's driving towards that moment."

The second post-credits scene also features Sammie, but it is set before the film's events. The short clip shows him in his father's empty church, strumming his guitar and singing a blues version of "This Little Light of Mine."

Sinners has been a box office sensation, earning more than $363 million worldwide so far, per Variety, and the film has already been mentioned in awards conversations for next year's Oscars.

Despite the critical and commercial success, Coogler isn't planning on making a sequel to his Southern gothic story, telling Ebony that he intended Sinners to "feel like a full meal."

“I wanted the movie to feel like a full meal: your appetizers, starters, entrees and desserts, I wanted all of it there,” he explained in the April 2025 interview. “I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing. That was how I was asked all about it. That was always my intention.”

Still, the director later appeared to be more open to the idea. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in June 2025, Coogler said, "It's tough to say now. You never wanna close the door on anything."

He continued, "It was actually a break from franchise filmmaking for me. I wanted to make something that was complete and let audiences take it."
