Sheffield's iconic Leadmill will close after eviction appeal denied | ITV News Calendar
The iconic Sheffield music venue the Leadmill has tonight announced it has lost its eviction appeal, meaning the site will close for good.
The club was served an eviction notice by the building's owners, Electric Group, in March 2022, sparking outcry from across the city and the music industry.
A court had previous ruled in favour of the landlords of the 900-capacity music venue, MVL Properties (2017) Limited - the parent company of the Electric Group.
The club's owners launched an appeal which has now been denied, meaning it will close its doors within the next three months.
The owners say they are devastated and have thanked fans for their support. They added they will be hosting a series of farewell events over the next few weeks.
Since first opening its doors in 1980, the venue has hosted some of the earliest shows from bands such as Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Kings of Leon, and the Killers.
The Leadmill has also been at the forefront of the grassroots music scene in the city, helping to launch the careers of up-and-coming artists.
