Towards reinforcing Nigeria’s legal and commercial safeguards in major contracts, particularly in the gas sector, the Legal Audit Committee on Agreements and MOUs for Accelerated Gas Development Projects (AGDPs) and High-Profile Arbitration Matters has concluded its assignment.

Senior Partner at ALP NG & Co. and Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Olasupo Shasore, SAN, alongside his committee members, submitted the final report to the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, at the Ministry of Justice in Abuja on 14th May 2025.

This was revealed in a statement issued by African Law Practice (ALP NG & Co.). Inaugurated in November 2024, the Committee was mandated to conduct a thorough audit of agreements and MOUs on AGDPs, align them with the Nigerian Gas Master Plan, and review commercial risk to the nation; review concluded arbitration cases with a view to identifying vulnerabilities that have exposed Nigeria to legal and commercial risk.

The Committee’s findings and recommendations are expected to shape future government contracting practices and prescribe a risk matrix to strengthen Nigeria’s position in high-stakes international arbitration matters.

According to statement, this is a commendation for their Senior partner, Olasupo Shasore, SAN, for his exemplary leadership in steering this vital national assignment and diligent service to the country.
