Semenyo Extends Bournemouth Contract, Rejects Top Clubs

Ghanaian international striker Antoine Semenyo has officially signed a new long-term contract with Premier League club AFC Bournemouth, committing his future to the south coast side until 2030. The 25-year-old forward initially joined the Cherries from Bristol City in January 2023 and has since rapidly developed into an indispensable player for manager Andoni Iraola’s squad.

Semenyo played a pivotal role in Bournemouth’s impressive 2024/25 Premier League campaign. He registered 13 goals and provided seven assists across 42 matches in all competitions, directly contributing to the club’s ninth-place finish. This achievement not only equaled Bournemouth’s best-ever league standing but also set a new club record for points with 56. Overall, Semenyo has made 89 appearances for Bournemouth, accumulating 22 goals and 10 assists.

Expressing his delight about the new deal, Semenyo stated, “I’ve grown so much at the club, both on and off the pitch, and I’m really happy to have signed ahead of returning for pre-season.” He further praised the club environment, adding, “From the fans to the staff and my teammates, I can’t speak highly enough of the people around the club. It’s a great place to be, and I’m excited to get back to Bournemouth and continue the hard work with the new season just around the corner.”

Semenyo’s exceptional form during the recent season had reportedly attracted interest from several bigger Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Tottenham. His decision to commit to Bournemouth despite such interest underscores his comfort and belief in the club’s direction. Known for his pace, power, and finishing ability, Semenyo has become a firm fan favorite at the Vitality Stadium.

With Semenyo now secured until 2030, AFC Bournemouth has successfully retained one of their most crucial players. This long-term commitment is vital as the club aims to build upon its record-breaking performance last season and solidify its position as a consistently competitive force in the Premier League.
