Three other actors besides were in consideration in the final stages of casting of the MCU’s Steve Rogers / . One of these actors, Ginny & Georgia’s Scott Porter, revealed this during a new interview and confirmed who the other two actors were.

Scott Porter, who plays Mayor Paul Randolph in the Netflix series Ginny & Georgia, revealed during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live that he was one of the final four actors competing to play Captain America. Chris Evans ultimately secured the role and went on to deliver one of the most definitive superhero performances of all time.

When Andy Cohen asked if Porter was a finalist for Captain America, the latter responded, “Yes. I was in the final four for Captain America.” He asked, “Who else can be Captain America than Chris Evans?” Porter then proceeded to add, “I was not mad at all, and I watched all the Avengers movies. I’m a huge nerd, and the man just crushed it.”

Porter reportedly said that Wilson Bethel and Mike Vogel were the remaining two vying for the role. Bethel was eventually cast as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter / Bullseye in Daredevil, which originally streamed on Netflix and the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. Meanwhile, Mike Vogel is best known for his performances in projects like Cloverfield, The Help, and Under the Dome.

Reflecting on his sentiments after he learned that he hadn’t gotten the role, Porter recalled that it felt like receiving a “kick in the n—.” He continued, “That was, like, a big, I’m bent over, sobbing, heaving. Yeah, it was bad. Because all these press outlets had put my head on Captain America’s body, and I started to buy in. I was like, ‘I can do this. Oh, no, no. Yeah, I can’t.'”

Notably, actors such as Jensen Ackles, John Krasinski, and Wyatt Russell were also in the running for the role, but they were apparently cut earlier in the process.
