The 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C., started with a relatively quiet leaderboard, but by the weekend, golf’s biggest stars were locked in a fierce battle.
In the end, it was World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler who emerged victorious, shooting a final-round 71 to claim the title by five shots — his third career major and first outside of the Masters.
Scheffler, who entered the day as the 54-hole leader, remained in front at the turn, but Jon Rahm mounted a strong challenge with three birdies over four holes, briefly pulling into a tie.
The final round featured a star-studded charge as Bryson DeChambeau, Matthew Fitzpatrick, and Keegan Bradley all applied pressure, while Harris English, J.T. Poston, and Davis Riley chased their first major wins.
Despite the commanding margin, Scheffler’s win was hard-earned. Struggling with a left miss off the tee, he bogeyed three holes on the front nine and managed just one birdie. Rahm’s surge, with birdies at 8, 10, and 11, kept the tension high.
With this triumph, Scheffler joins Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only players since World War II to win 15 Tour titles and three majors before turning 29 — and also becomes just the third to win multiple Players Championships, the Masters, and the PGA.
