Sandeep Reddy Vanga reveals 'Animal' was 'custom-made' for Ranbir Kapoor

The film 'Animal', directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has left audiences stunned with its captivating narrative and Ranbir Kapoor's remarkable performance. Vanga revealed that Kapoor was his first choice from the beginning, and the film was tailored specifically for him. He described the project as "custom-made" for Kapoor.
In an interview with Game Changers, Vanga explained why he chose Ranbir for the role, saying, “When I see his previous work, his aggression, arrogance, those features are very clearly defined while he was acting.” He further added, “I liked his performance right from his first film”.
Kapoor took a daring turn with 'Animal', delivering a performance filled with intensity and raw emotion. When asked if he was the first choice, Vanga replied, “He was my first choice.” Vanga also shared that Kapoor was involved from the early stages, saying, “Yeah, I told him at the idea level, he loved it. So, when I started writing the screenplay, it took a year. Then, automatically, he was there in every scene.”
The filmmaker also revealed that 'Animal' was entirely crafted for Ranbir Kapoor, emphasizing, “It’s custom-made for him, tailor-made screenplay hogya unke liye.” The decision to tailor the film paid off, as Animal became one of the highest-grossing films of 2023.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is currently engaged in filming his upcoming project, 'Love & War', directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Additionally, he is working on 'Ramayana', a highly anticipated film where he will portray Lord Rama. The first part of Ramayana is expected to release on Diwali 2026.
