Samuel Chukwueze builds N465m house for father, empowers community in Abia
Super Eagles winger and AC Milan star, Samuel Chukwueze, has built a house worth over N465 million for his father, Reverend John Chukwueze, in their hometown, Umu Chimaelu, Okoko Item, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
The housewarming ceremony drew admiration from family, friends and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the footballer’s remarkable gesture.
Overcome with emotion during the event, Reverend Chukwueze tearfully expressed his gratitude and recalled the difficult times when he struggled to provide for his children.
“I cried today because I remember when I had nothing and could not provide for my children. I abandoned them, not because I didn’t love them, but because I was ashamed that I couldn’t give them the life they deserved,” he said, sobbing.
He said the grand house came as a complete surprise. “I never expected this. When I saw this house, I could not hold back tears. Samuel has made me proud beyond words,” he added.
The clergyman also shared that his son inherited his football skills from him. “When I was younger, I was a great footballer too. It gives me joy to see that my son has taken that same path and is excelling on the global stage,” he said.
Offering words of advice to struggling parents, he urged them never to give up on their children. “I speak from my own experience — never throw away your children because you are poor or struggling. One day, God can turn things around. Samuel is proof of that.”
Reverend Chukwueze concluded his emotional address with prayers for all his children, particularly Samuel, whose success he said has uplifted the entire family.
Beyond honoring his father, Samuel also gave back to his community.
The footballer donated 20 brand-new tricycles (Keke NAPEP), distributed cash gifts and awarded educational scholarships to several underprivileged individuals in the area.
