Transport Minister Matteo Salvini said Sunday he will brief the Lower House this week on what he called "disconcerting" incidents of possible deliberate sabotage to rail lines amid a long wave of disruption that has led the opposition to call for his head.
"In light of the particularly serious news that has emerged in the last few hours, with disconcerting episodes in the province of Padua and in Rome, I believe it is urgent to inform Parliament," said the right-wing League leader, who is also deputy premier.
"I am confident that I will be in the Chamber (of Deputies) this week", according to a statement from the ministry.
The FS group - the note recalls - reported the discovery of a (bike) chain hanging from the electrical network of the Montagnana Station (Padua) and an attempted break-in of a control unit at Rome Aurelia.
"I thank the women and men of the FS group who, after the complaint for too many anomalous incidents, are also mobilized to guard the most delicate points of the railway lines", concluded Salvini.
