Former IPL boss Lalit Modi and liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya grabbed headlines again, this time for their lavish London party. Modi hosted over 300 guests at his annual summer bash, where the two controversial businessmen were seen singing Frank Sinatra’s classic “My Way” on karaoke.

The video of their performance quickly spread online, with many calling out the irony of two men accused of financial crimes singing about living life on their own terms.

Sharing clips from the party, Modi wrote, “I did it #myway – a few memories from my annual summer party past Sunday at my house in London.” He called the night “amazing” and thanked his “friends and family” who attended. Also spotted at the party was cricket legend Chris Gayle.

Modi also praised Mallya in his post by saying, “And to Vijay Mallya for his everlasting spirit of being there for me. Hope this video does not break the internet. Controversial for sure. But that’s what I do best.”

Many social media users took to social media to criticise the two businessmen for living large abroad while facing serious charges back home.

One user wrote, “Sad reality that all fugitives are enjoying lavish lives after looting money from the Indian public.” Another joked, “I was waiting for the invitation. Hope I get it next summer.”

Comments like “All, Please visit India,” and “Nazar na lage app dono ko” filled the post. Some even labelled them the “Desi Boys, English Style,” while harsher voices called them the “Thugs of Hindustan.”

The party wasn’t all about Modi and Mallya. Chris Gayle, the cricketing superstar, also dropped by. Modi shared a photo with him and wrote, “With the man himself, the one and only #universeboss Chris Gayle at my home in London for my summer party. Presented me with his bat with which he scored the highest ever total by an individual person in a T20 match in 2013 for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru of 175 runs in just 66 balls. What an inning that was. And he was not out. The greatest entertainer in cricket of all times. I salute him (sic).”

Lalit Modi (once celebrated for creating the IPL)  has been in the UK since 2010. He faces allegations of money laundering, bid manipulation, and financial misconduct.

Vijay Mallya (the former Kingfisher Airlines owner) left India in 2016 amid fraud accusations. Recently, the British High Court dismissed his appeal against a bankruptcy ruling, adding to his legal troubles. Mallya claims Indian authorities have already recovered more than Rs 14,000 crore, which he says is more than what he owes.
